The Academy, NextGen, U18 & U21 Premier League and On-Loan Thread

My money would be on Luongo out of the overseas youngsters - very impressed with him on Saturday. Best player on the park in Siwndon's league 1 game and was also their man of the match last Fri

i didnt think he was that good on sat tbh. he made few good blocks but wasnt involved enough. poor pitch but i wasnt impressed

My Ipswich mates really rated Luongo, Ipswich have used about 40 different players this year (most of them loanees!) but they still think he was as good as any of those they've played in CM since.

I thought he was good defensively and with the ball at his feet, which wasnt bad considering (i) the pitch, (ii) he'd only been at the club 4 days and (iii) they were playing the best team in teh division. Personally I thought he showed more promise in that 1 game that I've seen in all the games Liverbore has played

I was more impressed by him than i have been with Livermore ever to be honest.

Get a few million for livermore and promote Luongo to the first team

Raises an interesting point....

Have any of our foreign youth "products" made the grade before now?

The likes of Kamannan, Mpoku, Pekhart etc all fell by the wayside. As far as I can recall, the only youth players who've made a significant number of appearances for our first team are British and Irish.

Is there anyone obvious that I'm overlooking?

Because it's about time that one of these foreign youth players came good for us.

Australian as well if I'm not mistaken

I'm starting off a blog where I watch a game just to really watch a player (or players in rare cases). I watched the Doncaster vs Swindon game with the intention of doing a piece on all three Spurs players, but with Parrett being mostly anonymous and Byrne up against the best winger in the league, I only wrote about Luongo.

I see Jonathan Obika came off the bench after 86 minutes for Charlton and scored the winner in added time against Leeds.
