Which player would you like to see take over from Luka Modric?

Wouldn't Jenas be AVB's type of player? Energetic, good engine etc.

No because he's brick on the ball. When JJ gets it he dallies with it and then does that annoying thing where he stands with his shoulders shrugged and palms upturned as if to say that no-one is available - usually there is someone available early but by the time he's taken his usual 6 touches (when modric would take 1) then everyone is marked

I'm hoping if AVB gets the job and Modric is sold, then he makes Moutinho his first purchase

How on earth are we going to outbid the other clubs who want him?!? If we want someone in the Modric/Moutinho mouold and calibre, then we need to keep little luka as we wont be able to get an established replacement in

I'd rather we found some youngster that in time can become as good/if not better than Modric than simply replacing him with someone proven to be not as good.

Well the solution is obvious. Don't sell Modric unless it is for significantly more than we would spend on Moutinho. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to pay more for an inferior player when we have a better one under contract.

30mil + Sahin (+ Kaka) or bog off.

Except that swap deals are so unlikely that your suggestion realistically wont happen

We wont be signing Moutinho people unless the Kuwaitis buy us and bank-roll a spree. Move on....

we are never going to be able to afford a like for like replacement for Modric, so it will be simply a case of getting a different type of player who will be cheaper but in in his own way could be very effective for the team

one name, and is available this summer, is Gourcuff at Lyon. A player low in confidence, just coming back from injury, but has tremendous ability and would be affordable to us. The top clubs have gone off him so it would be a chance for us to resurrect his career. These are the types of transfers we need to be looking out for

Agreed. still dont think that its a given that Modric is leaving yet though

to sum up on what's going on at the moment, my feeling is that the club is going backwards, quite significantly too....

very disappointing considering we've been chasing the top for a few seasons now

If only Harry was our manager; He could convince Kaka,Sahin and Moutinho to sign for us.

He would give them confidence.

Both Jenas and Dean Parrett could potentially fill AVBs right central midfielder role,
that he used runners in who could overload the right side where Hulk moved inwards and the midfielder ran into the opening he left behind.
Depends on what's left in Jenas' legs though. It's not always necessary with 11 world class players full of talent to make a strong team.
Certainly could see AVB using someone like Jenas for the first season in charge, allowing him to focus the money available on more needed parts of the team
- like the playmaker role Modric will leave behind, and the striker position.

Liverpool and Tottenham are to set to fight it out with Serie A giants Inter Milan and Fiorentina to secure the signing of France under-21 international Mbaye Niang.

Niang, who is currently on the books at French side Caen, is expected to leave this summer following his side's relegation from Ligue 1.
The 17-year-old has scored five goals for Caen since making his senior debut in April 2011 and is rated as one of the brightest young prospects in France.
And France Football believe Liverpool and Tottenham, who are tracking the forward, will have to see off competition from Fiorentina and Inter to land their man.

another one a club like us should be looking at............

Inter Milan want West Ham to shell out about ?6million for Dutch striker Luc Castaignos.

The Hammers have enquired about taking the 19-year-old on a season-long loan, but Inter would prefer a permanent deal to help fund their summer shopping.
Liverpool, Tottenham, Saudi Sportswashing Machine and Everton have also shown interest and could take advantage of a similar deal.

If there are no takers, Inter would demand a fee of about ?1.6m for a loan deal, but in that case would prefer him to gain experience at another Serie A club.
Castaignos made just eight appearances last season - scoring one goal - after being signed from Feyenoord and is keen to move on.
