Wheelchair is a good player, and is not overrated IMO. He played for England and was cementing that middle position until he got injured! People were saying he would be a future England captain so to say he is vastly overrated is a bit harsh IMO

Plus he is on the Pepsi adverts with the likes of Messi, Drogba etc so he must be good.

" Look at the games we lost it was hardly because we ran out of steam. I mean the second to last game of the season we battered Villa right to the end with 10 men, so it can't be for lack legs, as it this level of sport, you can't do that without supreme fitness!

We didn't look out of steam when losing to Everton, whilst utterly dominating them. Late goals against Swansea, Bolton, Blackburn and Stoke don't exactly suggest we lacked legs. Our fitness was fine, in fact it was good. We scored too many late goals and our stats in terms of shots, passes and tackles etc were simply way too high for there to have been fitness issue's.

The only area where we had a fitness issue, was with Leds and this did show up a few times, most notably the Norwich game. But generally speaking fitness isn't an area where there is really room for improvement.

If we need to improve our fitness levels then so do Arsenals, which I find hard to believe.
They crawled over the line and only got third as West Brom literally gave them 2 goals, otherwise they wouldn't have won in their last 5 fixtures. The season before that they only won 1 of their last 7!

If you look at our results I can see why one could see a correlation and thus think there are fitness issues, but if you look at the actual performances, there is simply no way we could be so dominant in games at this level and be unfit.

If you look t out last 10 games, which is over 1/4 of the season, we took 19 points, which is actually third place form!

So it wasn't a fitness issue.

We had a bad third quarter of the season, but a simple look at the fixture list suggests this was always going to be the case.

For all the reason put forward by our fans for what happened, the most obvious is by far the most plausible. We lost points when we had our toughest run of fixtures! It's as simple as that.

The fixture list distorts things at times and it made us look better than we were. We then had a run of 7 games in which we played Emirates Marketing Project away, Liverpool away, Arsenal away, Man Utd and Everton away!"

I agree with most of this personally, except that there is an even bigger correlation with how our performances went in conjunction with Harry doing his best to abandon us fo England,....

Just because the media were jumping on the bandwagon doesnt make it true. Everyone wants us (England) to find hte next Xavi or Iniesta and just because Wheelchair is small and comes from Arse the media are whipping themselves into a frenzy about him

Guardiola's comment a year or two about him was great. Ahead of an Arse game, he was asked whether he would like Wheelchair in his side - he said he had about 10 Wheelchair's in Barca's youth team!!!!

I agree with this to a certain extent except I would add that we lost not just because it was simply a hard run of fixtures, look at Wiga's run at the end of last season. We lost because Harry's was distracted partly and we were poor tactically. We lacked imagination and at times e.g. Arsenal away were not set up properly from the start. But we've had these discussions a million times

I would also say luck has a bit to do with it. We played very well many of those games and just didn't get the result. Look at Emirates Marketing Project for example we were a whisker away from getting all 3 points and ended up with 0. Villa also we battered them with 10 men the whole match and they get a fluke goal from a deflection from 30 yards off someones arse.

There are also matches like Arsenal away, Norwich home where we completely looked brick and tactically as you say we were undone but for the most part we made a good account of ourselves and just didn't get the rub of the green.

that is football and about every team get results when they dont deserve it and lose when they dont deserve it. To avoid these factors you need to have the same quality as City have, have people there who can win games in 1 minute

Llorente only has one capital L, I don't know where this double capital L fad has come from but it must be stopped. Same goes for Lloris.

Im sure Capello said he would be future England captain!

I don't buy that you must have supreme fitness to outplay (/batter) Villa of last season with the talented players we have available to us.

I would agree that our fitness was good, or alright or something along those lines.

How come Defoe came back from training with an outside expert looking fitter than ever? That to me would indicate that there's unfulfilled potential in there.

how can you tell he looks fitter than ever?

Anyone worried that AVB might actually rate Jenarse? Selling Modric, loaning out Thudd,......think we'll need a couple CMs

Sandro, Parker, Livermore, Carroll, Sigurdsson.......................Moutinho, Nir Biton?

Not forgetting that Vertonghen is a very capable CM too, if required.

I still maintain that Vertonghen should have come on second half in place of Livermore. We needed a midfielder who could tackle but we were left with two on yellow cards and so less able to throw in the hard challenges for fear of receiving a second yellow.

It has been confirmed by Tim Vickery that we are definitely in Brazil talking to Damiao. Wouldn't surprise him to see him sign

Turns out he only said 'probably'.
