Putin & Russia

I spent this morning at a local garden centre which is acting as a local distribution hub, sorting and packing up donations. The owner has arranged a truck delivery of donations out to Poland tomorrow, to then be taken onto the border or into Ukraine as necessary. The amount of stuff donated is absolutely unbelievable. There after just boxes and boxes of food, toiletries, medical items, sleeping bags, nappies, baby stuff, and Amazon deliveries coming in all the time.
The generosity of people is amazing.

Did a bit of volunteer work in sri lanka after the tsunami. People coming on holiday from the uk used to bring suitcases full of baby clothes etc... to be donated to the charities. Is heart warming.

The little man's army are closing in on Odessa now.

I suspect we have at best a week to sign Moldova up to NATO before we miss our chance and fudge them like we did Ukraine.

I don't really get whats in it for Russia? I mean I can understand they'd like either an expanded Russia or puppet government but surely they must know that's never going to happen. They'll just get sanctions which will cripple them long term and lead to unrest and likely the eventual downfall of Putin. Wouldn't surprise me if he gets assassinated.

Transporting these donations is a pain in the ass.
Donate money to charities. Can instantly be used.
A tenner spent in Poland or wherever will be better spent than a tenner in England.

It makes sense if you see it as a domestic quarrel and argument. I think no one fully understood the implications when Ukraine spurned the CIS to join the EU a few years back.

From then on it was just very poor politicians all round in trying to settle political disputes without getting everyone else on edge and involved.

The US especially - stirring all kind of brick and egging everyone on to get in on the fight, but staying clear on the sidelines. I believe the US stands to benefit the most in this war now and later.

fingers crossed!

You don't come across as stupid so surely you realise why it won't happen. Same reason Ukraine was never signed up for it. NATO only wants members that Russia will never attack.
NATO is made up of governments held up by electorates. The most important thing to any of them is staying in power.

We can insist on it.
