Politics, politics, politics

I've given it a quick google but can't see anything.

As the largest party after the election the Tories wrote the queens speech, yes? Then there is a debate about the queen's speech followed by a vote of confidence in the new government?

My question is, has that vote happened yet? and if the tories failed the vote there'd have to be another election or Labour would get a go?
The vote is this week
Tuesday or Wednesday

I see there was a riot in East London about police violence last night, turned violent in the end.

Black lad dies after swallowing his stash of heroin to avoid problems and it kills him, family say it was police violence, IPCC say he did not have a broken bone, yet the protesters won't have it and call police brutality.

Im not saying there has not been cases of police brutality but whats this all about when people won't even accept the facts? Seems far too much "not my son" going on and fact ignored.

What's more annoying is the protest group going on about police brutality comparing us to USA. If these idiots had any sense, they will realise we are a far more civilsed country and they get away with a lot more over here.

Don't let facts get in the way of a good mob mentality. It's how we do things now.

I don't know the facts of this incident so I can't comment on it specifically, however I very much share your general concern over what I have often perceived as a 'riot first, figure out the reason later' mentality that seems to exist at times.

Hopefully however if your representation is accurate, it's full exposure should serve to undermine any sympathy for such activities...

The riot first act boils my tinkle, those that do it believe its an attack on their "rights" when you disagree with it. What I find from these left wing activists is this search for peace whilst using violence to get there, its no good being violent unless its them being violent to prove a point, its always them in balaclavas.

What also annoys me is this saint act they put on, this whole "The police are lying, you can't trust them or the establishment, we are telling the truth, always"

Let's not forget that the left are absolutely against all forms of racism. Except antisemitism - that's mainly OK or a slap on the wrist if you're unlucky.

Nope, just more cuts to cover it <shrug>

If you are right, then I'm sure those politics will play out well. NHS can go to sh1t everywhere except Northern Ireland perhaps? Maybe the Tories are that stupid, May certainly is.

On the other hand, Tories that care about their seats might not want to be seen to vote through that kind of thing and now have leverage to move against the government with meaningful votes. This would make for strong and stable government...

Some rioters aren't left-wing, some people just like to join in and light a fire, or attack police. Most people can protest without rioting.

I'm absolutely with you. If the facts of this case are as clear cut as you describe, I'd like to see this broadcast as widely as possible by the police and the media, in order to expose this kind of behaviour for what it really is.

I think they'll all prefer a tougher time with their constituents to a country run by a socialist. If we had a valid, centrist alternative then I'd be with you in hoping the deal falls apart. Unfortunately we have some terrible people who can run a steady ship or some terrible people who couldn't run a student union.

If they lose their seats, they will end up with a country run by a socialist anyway. And not before time.

Although as it stands, that won't be for a few years. By that point the novelty factor will have worn off, the Conservatives won't have Maybot3000 in charge and the landscape will be very different.

You seem certain. I think certainties are out of the window now.

I can be certain that, despite their demands, the DUP will do all they can to keep Corbyn and McDonnel out of power.

I can be 99% certain that May won't make it to the next election as leader.

I'm fairly sure (and a little hopeful) that the general public isn't stupid enough to carry a protest vote all the way through to government like they did in the US. Lessons learned there should hopefully be enough to stop that happening.

Oddly, I don't think it's the DUP that will rock the boat, unless there are legal complications from the Good Friday Agreement. IMO, the potential comes from the divisions in the Tory party over Brexit, more so when things start coming back to Parliament to be scrutinised/voted on.

I agree, May won't be the leader come a general election. But there is no guarantee that they will choose someone better. Most of the potential candidates are either freaks, awful or freakishly awful.

For the yanks and Trump, see us and Brexit. Only, in 4 years, they can vote Trump out if they don't fancy it anymore. If, in 4 years, Brexit turns out to be bad for us (and I'm not saying it will, before all the leavers start crying) then we are still out. So the British can/will take a punt just like anybody else.

Hopefully, May will do enough damage to the Tory party that they won't recover in time for the next election.
