Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

Utilities and infrastructure. We’ve got a long way to go back.

Screw paying foreign shareholders it has failed.

Having the joy of being able to travel its clear how screwed we have the system. I have been in France and Italy in the last year and been on journeys using local franchises that own franchises here and you can see what happening, their services are clean, cheap and regular.....in comparison, its now £23.00 return for less than 20 mins journey from Upminster here with the same franchise and one where the trains are near collapse, they stink of tinkle and there are recently scores of delays.

I paid £21 return from Shenfield to Liverpool Street yesterday, 20 mins journey
Parking was £12.70

Ridiculous

We were in France and Spain last year and comparable journeys to England are just soooo much cheaper.

I've even been looking at Paris to Bordeaux type train journeys as sometimes the prices of flights (once all the extra brick is added in) are silly. If I lived down the Kent end of the channel or even London (out of St P) I'd always check train options to Europe. And train stations and travel vs airports and flying..no contest.

Yeh I did something like a 40 min journey from Paris to a client and honestly it was filthy cheap.

I believe a lot of European providers own Uk rail franchises and hike our prices to subsidise their own.

Arrest warrant issued in Bangladesh for Tulip Siddiq relating to the corruption investigation. Bangladesh is a 2b extradition country, meaning an extradition request will go to ministers to approve. She's a personal friend of many including Kier Starmer, so this presents somewhat of a difficult situation.

Being pro Brexit and anti bringing Utilities back to govt/British ownership is a funny oxymoron. Basically a large segment of weird Tory minded folks in this country who think well managed govt owned Utilities is communism.

There's always been a legitimate Lexit movement. Brexit was Green Party policy until fairly recently, it only got taken over by Farage and co. in the last decade or so.

Economic localism (alongside social internationalism) is the only way this planet survives.
