Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

Wow. You seriously believe that the left are the ones to have lurched significantly to their outside over the last 40 years??? You are in cloud cuckoo, mate.

Culture Wars are (despite what you alluded to in an earlier post) a right wing contrivance, always started by reactionary, conservative organisations (the church, the establishment) to prevent progress (-ive) movement in society, changes that reduce their influence, power and wealth. The left has, over the last 40 years fallen for the trap and engaged in these Culture Wars to try and justify equality and individual freedoms but in doing so have fought and often lost on right of centre grounds. The whole political window, the Overton Window, on what is acceptable to include in public discourse and where the centre ground' lies has shifted so significantly far to the right that it would make Macmillan a Trot now.

And then the right cry crocodile tears over any slight oscillation back away from them. Absolute snowflakes.
:tearsofjoy:

The establishment to prevent progress :tearsofjoy:

Probably not a paper you read, but nonetheless...

Politico not on your list either I'd guess? Apologies if wrongly assumed...

https://www.politico.eu/article/mic...-mone-admits-making-millions-covid-contracts/

If this item from the BBC doesn't at least raise a question in someone, then I'd suggest that person is determined to disregard any notion of wrongdoing regardless of any information/facts coming to light...

...more on Mone...

...and this is rather damning...

I take exception to this situation -which remains under scrutiny and analysis, and which has shown a dark hand several times- being written off as 'hyperbolic' and 'factually inaccurate'.
I provide links to actual studies and you post link to the guardian and politico.... both biased pro-remain newspapers... No wonder you don't know nothing and your views are blinkered.

How did you get on?

I've not seen you post anything racist.
Not had a chance to have look, been doing some work.

But I will take a look, when I get 5.

My main concern is the fact that no one is listening it seems to the wishes of the native people and they have big reservations over the deal, especially as it seem they were not consulted.

Edit, goes and has a look whilst writing this reply XD

It also seems (had a quick look), correct me if I am wrong, that Mauritius has never held sovereignty over the Chagos, it was the a French dependency administered from Mauritius. Colonised around 1700s and the Chagossians were former French slaves that were taken there. Not native to the Island themselves. Both Islands were then handed to British by the French who relinquished sovereignty and been a British island ever since.

If this is correct, why are we giving the islands back to Mauritius? No laid claim to those islands until the French took over. I don't get it, something seems fishy to me and as I pointed out before, the UN is corrupt and useless.

I can't seem to find anything regarding anyone residing on the island before the Portuguese (found) and and French arrived with slaves. Admittedly I have not searched for long.

I watched a documentary years ago about how crap the people were being treated there... The Americans promised to give them clean drinking water, water pump or something and it never happened. Either way, it made me want to kick someone in the dingdong.
