Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

That will be partner rates I'd imagine, depending on the scale of the project there will be 5-10 max on it.

The figure does not surprise me at all. It is what a decent consultancy will charge for their best people to come and do what you need them to. But what the eff are they doing for the govt

Doesn't sound massively high for partner rates.

Yet more reporting designed to create a fuss out of nothing. Sounds like an absolute fortune to someone on £15/hr but not silly money by any measure.

I don’t see why you’d use BCG for this though. It was bog standard digital delivery stuff, the kind of thing you get PA or Deloitte or Accenture to do, with a good chance of getting the fresh faced kids who do the actual work at a day rate that begins with a one. BCG are there for big strategic decisions when you close whole divisions and sack thousands, so the fees are lost in the noise.

I believe for a lot of test and trace or where you enter your close contacts they use Salesforce so I'm not sure what they're actually doing on this project, plenty of decent salesforce practices around. I have worked on a project with BCG before they do have some pretty bright people there but like you not sure why they're actually needed - potentially some modelling maybe?

Probably know them well from having them work out how to take a hatchet to the civil service.

How likely is Scottish independence? Also it will be the death of the left in terms of numbers in parliament. Also what is the impact of it economically if it becomes a reality?

I would say from their side it looks likely but I honestly thing they are deluding themselves through a feud going back to the 13th century that Aberdeen can prop them up. To us the loss of Aberdeen to the economy will not hit us as much as the loss of ours is to them.

I wonder if people will jump up and down at Scotland for ending a 300 year old union like they did for us leaving the EU. I assume it will be accepted because that was not instigated by the English and we all know how evil they are.

If they were to leave then I don't see how they'd be able to afford the furlough scheme for instance and oil prices have plummetted since the last one which was one of their main economic points.

In my opinion, not likely at all.
It's a hugely vocal minority that are driving the media agenda.
Also the polls have stopped asking straight forward questions, it's either very leading or skewed questions.
It's also a real lack of decent opposition to the SNP government. They are imploding at the moment in a 90s tory style and yet no one can seem to lay a killer punch on them.
The rumours of impropriety are too many to just be rumour, but the press can't or won't touch it. Scotland has the highest number of D section notices in Europe, it is just a matter of time before it collapses.

58% in favour in the last poll I saw and you'd have to think it will trend more that way after Brexit bites. As you say, the way a question is asked can nudge you one way or the other. Do you have the wording used in this recent poll?

I haven't looked to hard because tbh they getting ridiculous, but usually it's in the pie chart graphic and it isn't in these ones, which makes suspicious.
The last one the question was, would you vote for independence if the Scottish government had a financial plan that made you better off.
Forgetting that they don't have a plan, still only 56% vote yes to be better off.

Yes I think brexit is a big issue, what impact will the cost of scexit have though?
There is no guarantee we get into the EU, our economy would be on austerity x 10 to meet eu regs, our biggest trading partner is England, etc.
The SNP are great at pointing out all the positives but never any of the negatives, it's all always a "trust us, it will work". No one but them is campaigning on this subject, so I would expect a rise, granted this is bigger than I expected, but when it comes to everyone having their said I would expect it to change.

You would think a no deal Brexit would make it a real possbility but if we get a deal of some nature than one would assume it would be a harder sell.

If they wanted to rejoin the EU then presumeably they'd have to negotiate some kind of deal with England otherwise they would have to impose a hard border to maintain the single market.

It's not their oil anyway, it's ours.

That works. We can put the border at Oxford

Obvious a separate Scottish makes little sense. Oil is running out and as others have said oil prices may never go back to the heady days, with electric cars on the horizon.

I never understood Scottish independence. But then I did some work with a research faculty in the university of Edinburgh which is an arm of the Scottish government.

We see day to day how sluggish and institutional London-based government is. It doesn’t represent Londoners particularly well let alone Scots. There are a number of things that the more agile Scottish government have implemented that England and Wales follow after. There is some enthusiasm and belief in Scottish government. Some national pride that we don’t really have.

A devolved setup like now is no doubt opportune for them. But then Brexit. The Scots export all manner of delicious things to Europe. From whisky to lobster. To be able to tell Westminster to do one and be able to trade freely with the 500m consumers in Europe is quite a pull, even for former unionist Scots.
