Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

This is the bit people miss. And the Tories are still leading the majority of polls even though they have handled this Covid crisis so ineptly. As much as I hate to say it, the working classes in this country have become right wing and Tory. Self harm is what I call it.

Yes, but here is food for thought. The Tories have a very big majority (80 odd), but when you look at it a bit more closely, many of their new MP'S are oncers. I don't expect many of those northern Tories to hold their seats in the next election. So in reality, it's all a bit closer than it looks on paper.

Not just oncers, they are shocking all round. Just washed up Brexit types. The issue is with a recession coming, populism will rear its ugly head even more. Sensible options beyond the far right and far left don't tend to win when that happens

I'd thought you'd missed a 'n' out for a minute:D

Or it is the kick up the arse this country needs to get itself on its feet. I have always said hard work is good for the soul, you either go the education route and get proper skills or you work your balls off in a manual job. I never did the education route yet still made a very good income and life for myself. The are far to many wanting an easy ride in life.

I keep trying to drum this into my boy who wants to be a musician then a chef then an artist. He can do what he wants but he better work his fcuking socks off. Do not mind if he becomes gay or a muslim but he better work his fcuking socks off.
Boris is one of the laziest fudgers out there, yet he seems to do ok, David Cameron much the same. Depending on where you want to be in life working hard only gets you so far. Even more important than hard work having the right connections.

In fairness the second part of what you say is the same the world over

I said the same to my wife. Could not stand blair or brown but both would be having weekly meetings at Heathrow to get the testing sorted out.

Johnson does not want to seem to put the hard miles in.

I see Extinction Rebellion blockaded printers to stop newspapers getting out (chiefly right leaning ones), absolutely outrageous trying to curtail free speech. I guess they aren't technically a left organisation being mainly funded by a hedge fund but I'd wager many members are left leaning - my main problem with the left is they're always trying to tell people how to think and act, bringing people down telling them they can't do things. Couple of Labour MPs supported it and deleted their tweets too after HQ silenced them.

I have been saying it for a long time but it is how we will end up with our own Trump, it is sort of why brexit happened.

like everything else they do, there was zero thought put into it, and it targeted people just trying to do their job, rather than those responsible for the issues they are fighting against

When your modus operandi is to get air time and get people talking, don’t think they mind if they rub people up the wrong way. For them there is no such thing as bad publicity. The irony is those who are talking about them fell for it - that was their aim.

All this no such thing as bad publicity is such an outdated view point.

They alienate people they want to back their cause and appeal to an ever decreasing circle of people.

Come up with technological advances to stop polluting the planet and i will listen to you, otherwise not interested.

I know very little about the extinction rebellion in the UK, but the youth-led worldwide climate movement has been nothing short of miraculous in terms of its effectiveness in shifting climate policy positions and debate.

People like them are, in the main, responsible.

It's their pressure on undoing centuries of innovation and improvement that is stopping a real drive towards the technology that will fix the problem.

People won't stop flying, people won't stop driving. They won't stop wanting the food they want, regardless of season and they won't stop buying items manufactured from all over the world.

What they will do is seamlessly switch to greener alternatives once technology has moved enough to allow it.

Until they get designated as a terrorist group.
