***OMT - TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs Stoke City***

Leicester fan Kevin Friend appointed ref for the game :D

Couldn't make it up

Extracted from an old article someone posted on TFC :
However, you will not be seeing Friend refereeing at the King Power Stadium any time soon as he is not allowed to officiate in games involving teams he supports.
"I have got two teams, Bristol City, because I was born in Bristol, and also Leicester because I live here," he said.

Obviously it would be difficult to implement a rule across a whole season whereby a referee was restricted from officiating in any match where his interest in another team (not directly involved in the match in question) might be said, rightly or wrongly to influence his decisions. The pool of refs is small enough as it is. But at this stage in the season where our results vs those of Leicester are absolutely vital to the outcome of the PL winners, would it really have been that difficult to allocate another ref, if only to avoid any accusations of bias? There is potentially a conflict of interests although I am sure Mr. Friend will want to be thoroughly professional and not show any anti-Spurs bias.

(Not actually worth reading the article as other than the extract above it's not relevant but I'm adding the link just for attribution purposes)

Can the FA make it any more obvious what they are trying to do? ffs

Nailed on Stoke penalty incoming..(not paranoid at all)

I'll remember for my entire life another game away at Stoke several seasons ago when Chris fcking Foy absolutely destroyed us. That was the worst referring I've ever seen in a football game.

Tell me about it! I actually ripped apart a shirt (don't ask) watching that game, hah. I was fuming. We should've had three pens or something, a goal disallowed for offside when two meters onside, and a red card that was nothing. Absolutely legendary bad refereeing.

Best wear a cheap shirt Monday.

if a ref isn't allowed to officiate a game for the team he supports because it would be a conflict of interest then i think games like this should also fall in to that category - because it's quite obviously in a Leicester City supporters interest that Tottenham not win. therefore = conflict of interest - what reasoning do you have for this game not being a conflict of interest for a LCFC supporter?
