]Scara is right about AVB not being able to play Ade.[/B] He completely undermined him in front of others. What option does he have. I think he could have punished him, by fining him and keeping him away for a weeks. Perhaps he should have then brought him back

So why did AVB play him? that excuse becomes null and void when the manager decides to bring him back for a game then drop him again.

There's no way AVB could have played Ade after what he did. No manager plays a player who publicly ****s them off. Even if it's to the detriment of results, it has to be done.

If Timmeh sticks around long enough Ade will do it to him too - then he'll have to choose between short term results and the respect if his players.

Two sides to the story as always, and we all know what happened in the summer…the biggest problem AVB had with Ade was that he didn't really want him from the get-go. I wish he'd been able to find a way to make it work. Instead he chose it as a point of power struggle.

sir i have been reading your comments for 10 years..if not for prison i would be here more often , i respect your comments ..but today sir is all about a team plating together as a UNIT ..most important thing..thats why man u are pony...Right manager Tim ...hmmmm , cant be really logic dictates we need a bigger man ,( hence Laudruap sacked ) ...but we have imennse ( fu ck my spelling ) in this side ...we should be canning sides all day long if soldado and lamela hit then who knows >??? ...( besides Scara ON THE SERIOUS NOTE HAVE YOU HEARD THE RUMOURS ON SAldado ..dont want to say it but it comes from Azza WHOS PERSONAL FRIEND ..again sorry for typos

He allowed the situation to reach that end-game. Come on Diego, we know how it works…he wanted Ade out so he froze him out and forced a reaction. From what I understand, it was a moment of frustration after a lot of pretty poor treatment of a senior pro. The guy was working his ******** off in training, and kept fit whilst on funeral duty. AVB chose a path. Again, it's history now, but I think it's funny that anyone could even consider that AVB did not have a choice in the matter of Ade. he did. And he took a stand. Nothing wrong with that, but as they say, you live by the sword and all that...

but why are we ignoring the fact that he played Ade? how can AVB not be able to play Ade....when he played Ade? one of life's mysteries i guess.

Political mate. By then, everyone around him was harping on about how ludicrous it was. Again, AVB had made a rod for his back earlier in the season by declaring to someone that 'if you ever see Adebayor in a starting line-up I did not pick the side'…I'm paraphrasing something I heard in confidence. It's a shame really. And frankly, the fact he chose to bring him on for 'that' half, when we were getting murdered, when the game was beyond saving, was something of a '**** you' to everyone IMO…he survived a pretty heavy round of meetings that weekend, as I think is now public knowledge...

That's exactly what i felt for a while. Ade playing, Lamela on the left, hell even partnering Kaboul and Dawson. A throw away game imo.

Such a shame that AVB didn't get the best out of Adebayor... Fingers crossed that Sherwood can keep him motivated for the rest of the season...

2005-09 (managed by Wenger): 46 goals in 104 games at a rate of 179 minutes per goal
2009-11 (managed by Mancini): 15 goals in 34 games at a rate of 163 minutes per goal
2011-12 (managed by Redknapp): 17 goals in 33 games at a rate of 166 minutes per goal
2012-13 (managed by Villas-Boas): 5 goals in 26 games at a rate of 328 minutes per goal
2013-14 (managed by Sherwood): 8 goals in 10 games at a rate of 108 minutes per goal

Maybe he wasn't given the choice - maybe he was told that a player getting 3 or 4 times our average wage has to be played.

I suspect that Ade knows that his attitude was partly responsible for AVB not playing him - that his attitude has been questioned time and time again at various clubs, which was why no team wanted to buy him when AVB wanted him out of the club.

Tim Sherwood said that Ade learns from his mistakes, and I'm sure that is working to our advantage. Everyone knows that a fired up Adebayor is a real asset and if TS can keep him motivated till the end of the season, we might have a surprisingly good finish. No idea how Tim will treat the Europa League, but if we get as far as beating Benfica, I fancy us to win it. About time Spurs won a decent cup and most football fans would say it is well worth winning.

For someone who learns from his mistakes he does a pretty good job of repeating them.

Regardless of what he does in the rest of the season, I'd be tempted to sell him in the summer. Ade's good runs of good form are normally short lived and he is a passenger when he is not on form. Sell when his stock is high.

Sherwood's comment about Berbatov being the kind of player who gets managers sacked could equally be true of Ade.

Ah yes....they forced AVB to play him in the City game and then allowed him to drop him there after. The 'committee' are damn evil i tell you.

What would you suggest the reason was?

Probably what Steff said but that's besides the point.

You can't moan about AVB not being able to play him when he played him. If he didn't play him then fair enough you might have a point, but he played him meaning he was able to play him and he was willing to play him (for whatever reason).

I honestly don't believe he willingly played him, otherwise he wouldn't have dropped him again.

The only thing I can think of is that possibly Ade was thought to have served his time, came back for a match and then did something to **** AVB off again. I'm pretty sure we'd have heard of it if that had happened though.

I can't see it being forced, I think maybe he just thought **** it, nothing else is working, Ade has performed against former clubs before, it's a worth a go
