We know that in the crunch meeting between Levy, Baldini and AVB after the Liverpool game, AVB was told to play Ade and he refused. It is possible that this wasn't the first time that they had this conversation.

In order to think that then the reasoning for dropping Ade would have to have been performance rather than attitude related. I can see why he'd want to try and get Soldado working, but Defoe in front of Ade on the bench? I don't think that's the case.

cool, it's a worrying thing though, I don't like the idea of Levy dictating to the manager who to pick, the squad should have neutrality, teams shouldn't be picked based on the weight of the pay packets

Very worrying. I had previously thought Levy was better than that - in fact I've defended him endlessly on here before.

This has me concerned though - we don't need a mini-Abramovic.

Looking at those stats (better than a goal every 180 minutes for every manager.... except one)... Perhaps it is clear which side of the fence the problem lied on during that 2012/2013 season?

Anyway let's just hope Ade can keep up the form for the remainder of the season - because if he does then we'll be ok.

Great job from Sherwood to integrate Adebayor again so quickly and scoring goals at such a fantastic rate - especially as Ade isn't just finishing off chances but also doing lots of good work in terms of holding the ball up, dropping off and pulling out wide for the good of the team.

I'm pretty sure AVB didn't tell Ade to trap the ball 20 yards and pass to the corner flag all the time.

Ade himself has admitted that he shouldn't have behaved the way he did. We all saw how he played last season too. Players shouldn't need to get their dingdongs sucked to do their jobs, they should just do their ****ing jobs.

its not about having his dingdong sucked off....the teams under AVB didnt get the best out of the lone striker, Ade struggled, Defoe struggled, Soldado struggled. Redknapp didnt always see eye to eye with Ade, but the team was set up to create chances and Ade got on the end of them and scored 1 in 2. Now the same is happening under Sherwood and Ade is scoring at at even better rate.

I wouldn't expect either Defoe or Soldado (on current form) to play well as a lone striker (which is a misnomer in AVB's formations as he almost always has support from the wide two). Ade struggled because he was lazy/unmotivated/not up for a new contract/incapable of building his own morale up (delete as applicable).

If I recall correctly he played the half against City then we had the away game in Norway, followed by Utd at home.
Ade had a mystery "injury" which prevented him flying out to Norway and subsequently missed the home game against Utd.
Its pretty clear reading between the lines that Steff's story is pretty accurate up to the City game. A theory I'd put forward about the week that followed is that Ade was still ****ed at AVB and refused to fly out to Norway citing injury. AVB decided that if he didn't fly to Norway he wouldn't make the squad for the Utd game...and so the cycle repeated until AVB was sacked a few weeks later.
