I think we need a clean sweep of the old Poch players. As great as they have been even under conte they need replacing. That includes Hugo and Dier from the starting line up

I am a bit worried by Conti's attitude too. He doesn't seem to see the losers in the same light we do.
We're too light on creativity - we can't say if Kulu or Rich aren't available then the game is up. Ridiculous situation.

That's my concern even more so than the stupidness at the back. Lloris is going to kick us into trouble, he's done it before and he will do it again. Dier isn't a good defender so we play 3 at the back to compensate. I'm meh on that, the la k of any real threat is a bit more concerning. Without Kulu we are drifting into Nuno territory. Few goals, very few attacks and not looking threatening at all.

Without Dier we'd be at sea. He's the only lynch-pin there. Is he the most commanding and reliable of CBs you've ever seen? No. But he's definitely one of the best we have. And has been playing well. He's a corner stone of Conte's side.

Lots of misses from us today. Missing Hojgbjerg, Kulu, Richarlison, Romero. All key players for us. Then we missed a hat-full of respectable chances. Son times 3 in the first 10 mins or so. Kane close etc.
There were positives. The way Lenglet joined attacks - something we've been crying out for from our CBs. Sessengon well in the game. Not delivering yet, but better that at least he's doing the rest of his job well. There is too much pressure on him. Just needs to work the ball more in the final thrid, not try to force a cross always. Focus on a pass instead. Or getting to the byline and pulling the ball back.

He doesn't make stacks of mistakes but his overall level isn't high enough for where we want to be, his distribution is extremely poor and he's not comfortable on the ball which is strange given his upbringing. Compare his long balls to say Tobys - night and day. I think it's Romero plus 2 new cb's needed. We'll likely only get one though.
We don't play 3 at the back because of Dier, we play it because it's Contes preferred system and no other reason.

I worded it incorrectly. I know it's his go to system. It's just that even if he wanted to change it we don't have the CBs to play a back 4. Just like I recall saying early on this season that I don't actually think we are that good defensively. We rely on packing the box and making it difficult to get clear shots on goal but it's a numbers thing. Individually we are rather poor at the back.

We created enough chances to have scored another. Some days you don't get the rub of the green, and I thought this was one of those. Bags of effort and some decent team play, but without top class wingbacks, and given our injuries, it is much harder to score....

The idea our players can't get out of tricky situations does not bode well for when things get really tough, no wonder we went rabbit in headlights when we faced quality in United in the week
