Do you really think that if Mourinho hadn't won that cup then anything after that would have been remotely different?
He seems to think it was the start of things, so I’ll take his word on it.

ATM I don’t give a fudge what he does!
Poch has a big mouth, and needs to think more when comments to the press!
Yep -- I remember them beating us in the final.
Also, one of my best memories as a Spurs fan is when we won it, beating Chelsea in the final. I'm fine with us rotating the team and accepting we might lose due to that, but our team was more than good enough -- the attitude 2nd half is why we lost and that is what is so disappointing about it to me.
It's the first cup, not a causal event. He seems to think it was the start of things, so I’ll take his word on it.
Why not. Not like we win leagues Evey year. Pathetic
No Vertonghen, no Sanchez, no Aurier, no Dembele (for most of the match), no Lloris, no Eriksen (for most of the match), no Kane. Poor performance and all, but fudge me, we almost played with our reserves tonight, and looked comfortable for 45 mins. We got a bit too relaxed and conceded a few cheap ones, but we never would've done that in the PL. Crab cup just doesn't get the blood going, does it?
Fergie also won alot of these cups! We haven't won anything in years yet fans act lol we are too big for them ffs!!
I bet they'd rather be fit for a match against Real Madrid than have a league cup medal.I agree with those saying that this would be a great opportunity for some younger players to get a chance to shine, especially if this is a cup "we don't care much about". They feared us in the first but outbattled us in the second, which I don't think would have happened with our second string. I think I remember Wenger playing the reserves in the final one year, because it was those who got them there. It would have felt better to go out due to ability rather than complacency in any case.
Not particulary bothered about this one with the exciting games coming up, but it never feels good to lose a cup game regardless. This was our best shot at a trophy, and I'm sure every single one of our players would rather have a "don't care-cup" medal than no medal at all.
Well, that was embarrassing. It's another cup thrown away, and I'll never be okay with that - *ever*. It's one of my biggest disagreements with Poch, and always will be - a man who has won absolutely nothing cannot afford to be choosy, and neither can a club that has won two league cups in 25 years.
But that's secondary to the immediate situation - it's something I've been angry about for four years, and it won't change. What *was* especially embarassing was that we just spinelessly gave up - surrendered to a bunch of pub cloggers with pashun.
It's important in a way that we're reminded of what we are, under the surface - we can suppress it with brilliant league campaigns and astonishing CL exploits, but this is what will always lurk under our successful exterior. Vulnerability. And self-destruction - always present. Same old Tottenham, always let you down, etcetera, etcetera. Today was a good demonstration of what happens when we let our guard down, when our efforts falter for just a moment - we are the Spurs of old, limply losing to everyone with a bit of spine and effort.
We cannot let our guard down like this ever again. If you want to throw competitions, Poch, that's your prerogative - you've earned it, even if I will eternally disagree with you about it. But this is the risk - the Spurs you built will fade away, and the *true* Tottenham will return. It's always f*cking there. And although we can suppress it for entire seasons, across multiple competitions - somewhere, somehow, this sort of thing will happen the instant our effort wavers. And it will f*cking return.
But they won’t, of course. They’ll point out - quite fairly - that we started with a strong line up and lost because of a terrible complacency in our second half attitude.
So we are everything we mocked Arsenal for?
Hopefully the whole bunch of overpaid ponces will pull their fingers out and play with some intensity and not be co c0cky.
A team of Alderweireld,Davies,Rose,Trippier,Dier,Dele,Son is NOT a team of reserves. Stop trying to play it down because it's West Ham, it was a shocking display.....No Vertonghen, no Sanchez, no Aurier, no Dembele (for most of the match), no Lloris, no Eriksen (for most of the match), no Kane. Poor performance and all, but fudge me, we almost played with our reserves tonight, and looked comfortable for 45 mins. We got a bit too relaxed and conceded a few cheap ones, but we never would've done that in the PL. Crab cup just doesn't get the blood going, does it?
Hopefully he'll start picking some young players in these games (Edwards, Bennetts, KWP etc) - players who have something to prove. I don't get why people like Eriksen was involved at all tonight - he should have been at home with his feet up
That's not how numbers work.In my time as a Spurs fan we have picked up two trophies in 25 years. So it doesn't really matteriof one opportunity goes begging. We might win something within the next 12 years.
