** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Forest **

I think Conte has his eye on a trophy.
We're playing every game like a cup final.

Tricky match, Forest and their fans up for the big occasion at home. Nice to come away with the points. Should have been out of sight, weird seeing Harry miss a pen. It must be the first game in history when handball on the line didn’t result in a red card.
It was the right decision to only book him. He didn't prevent the ball from going in, and there's no way Harry would be able to head it into the net. He'd have glanced it at best.

That felt like winning ugly for the sake of winning ugly when it would have been easier to win pretty and play some football. We are going to be hated even more than we already are this season.
Good analogy.
We could and should have had a few more goals. That Forest defence was absolutely wide open.
They are going to struggle defensively.

The defender couldn't have known harry wasn't getting to it or he wouldn't have handled it.
His intention was to stop a goal/goal scoring opportunity, i can't see how that can be anything other than a red card.

I have to disagree , he would have almost certainly scored.
On beiN sports all the panel , including ex pros like Andy Gray who headed those in for fun and Nigel De Jong were both in shock and laughing in disbelief how that wasn't a red card for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity.

Did you see Kane interviewed after the game on Sky? He was laughing when they told him VAR said he wasn’t getting sent off because didn’t think Kane would head it in. Kane said he better not say anything:D…..

We’ve seen Harry managing to score when falling forward flat on his face and still scoring with his trailing foot. How does a VAR ref know what a world class striker can or cannot do?

The old adage of seen them given (in fact all the time) springs to mind.

He didn't intend to handle it. He was knocked off balance.

Well, even Harry Kane does not have an Inspector Gadget extendable neck.

Phew. We got away with that, and there is much to fix going forward.

  • Footballing intelligence/anticipation - something has to change in how often we fail to see where the second ball drops when we contest it, to the point where cobbled together sides like Forest on their 20th signing of the season can anticipate better and press better.
  • Richy starts from here on in. Sonny can ride the bench for a while, he's had 4 games to pick up form and looked rusty in all of them, albeit marginally better today. Richy came on and had an impact in 5m flat.
  • Romero being back will do wonders for our ability to hold the ball a little bit better at the back - Davo and Emerson on the right are just not ever going to be good players on the ball, although Davinson did well today, in all honesty.
  • Start. Quicker. Still don't know why we start like drunken corpses shambling around.
In the end, got away with it, all's well that ends well - but we *have* to be better, especially given Spam up next.

Good post. Sanchez did do well but we surely can't have him and Royal together on the same side ( from a ball retention/ progression point of view).
I think Royal is more the problem. Romero will help but we need to try someone else at RWB

Conte is not playing for top 4. He’s got his eyes on only one league position. Our fan base obviously don’t have the same belief.

Completely. CIty are clear favourites for the title but with Sterling and Jesus leaving, an injury to Haaland and the title race is very open

Why? We've won 3 and drawn one with Royal, and haven't let in a goal in ages with Sanchez on the pitch. It ain't broken, so don't fix it.

I think it was intentional.
look at our xG, we don't need better, we need to keep clean sheets, that's the game, statistically a PL clean sheet is worth two goals

we are in a really good place, we just need Kane and Son to be at least average, so far they have been poor
Richarlison needs to start for Son.

Agree with most of that, except for the fact they didnt do much to threaten Hugo. A good number of forward thrusts but practically nothing in the way of an end product. They'll definetly be in a relegation fight this year so it was important to pick up the 3 points away. Surely Conte has to drop Son for Rich now. He absolutely shouldve done it for this game.

Agreed they didn't threaten Hugo, but he was rooted to his line thrice for shots that dribbled juuuust wide - it was closer than the xG suggests.

We cannot keep playing this way, imo - like with the Mourinho start in 20-21, we will get found out eventually. We have to have more control, more organisation and more possession, plain and simple.

Maybe we could have had 12 points and better performances ,that's why.
We have been a little bit fortunate in both the Chelsea and Wolves games. No matter what the xG or other stats might say.
I use my eyes and we are grinding our way to wins but giving up lots of quarter/ half chances and surrendering possession and territory too easily.
