Why don't we scrap cup competitions altogether and make finishing topn4 the only goal on football, that will be fun! When did football become so robotic, part of the excitement of the cup is that anything could happen on the day. Yet now it seems fans of all teams whether big or small would rather the competition didn't exist. They probably accept that they have no chance to win the cup so it makes sense for them to play a weakened side as they need to get back in the Prem, that is different from our situation as we could win the cup( as long as we do not fudge about with weaken sides).

It seems that a lot of fans would be happy with that. Shame its come to that though as i was always taught that sport is about striving to win something not finishing among the losers ( top four).

How is young Edwards these days?
That makes about as much sense as
It went right over your head then.
. The thing about a straw man argument is that the act of using one can also be knocked down just as easily as the original false position it represents. But if we imagine the "reverse" technique, that would be knocked down just as easily for much the same reason (it's a misrepresentation). I suppose you could call it a red herring, perhaps. But whatever you call it, once identified it will fail, so there's not really any scope for describing it in a way that suggests it has any real "strength".

Red herring
a clue or piece of information which is or is intended to be misleading or distracting.
Would you play a full strength side tomorrow @parklane1?
I might be tempted to stick N'Koudou in for Alli with Son playing inside, but otherwise I would roll with that team. If we go a few goals up I'd also like to see Onomah back in CM, his real position, for Dier say.No, but then again i would not name a side full of youngsters. Janssen, Son, Sissoko, Tripper, Davies, Winks should get a start.
LLoris
Tripper Toby, Wimmer Davies
Dier Winks
Sissoko Alli Son
Janssen

So aren't we arguing over semantics? You want to field a weakened team, the only argument is over how weakened. The only difference between the team that I would pick and yours is that I would rest Lloris and Alli.
So that's all agreed then......we play a weakened side tomorrow, and win the cup !!!!!!!
