It was a kick out from Lloris that led to that goal. Hugo's kicking is awful - always has been. And Liverpool have picked up possession from his kicks three times so far. They know his kicks won't reach halfway, and arrange themselves in the best areas to win the header or the second ball.

They did here. Sprayed it wide to Robertson. And our paper-thin defense collapsed.

Won't even bother mentioning Trippier's role, because by now, there's no point. He's beyond crap, and we all know it.

But we learn new and interesting things about our mental fragility and threadbare squad every game. In the middle of our worst run in almost a decade, it's interesting to watch, in an out-of-body-experience sort of way. :p
I am bemused as to why Hugo pretty much always plays chipped, lofted kicks. On the rare occasions he doesn't give it to the opposition the ball takes so ling to arrive it has to be played back.

This narrowness is costing us. It's been a weakness in previous games, but today it's really being emphasised.

Remember when we used to play high tempo, aggressive pressing? With high possession and a keen, tight, defence.

It’s all gone. This season has been; no midfield, no width, no pressing. Just sit back, look confused and unstable, and then look for a midfield bypassing long ball.

And we can't kick it that far anyway, so it goes nowhere but to an opposition shirt.

Due to injuries and lack of squad depth out midfield 'two' today are Eriksen and Sissoko.

Id hate to watch a game with some of you lot in the pub

I think we started well and our game plan was sabotaged by our captain. Pressure is now flipped and we're battling against a team and crowd with their tails up.

Need to keep solid and try to catch them on the break, that's the plan.

For some reason Trippier is narrow when they attack and we seem happy to give their full backs the space.
If we are going to do that our wide forwards have to work back and cover that space - that's why Lamela is useful in these games.

Second half, go 4-3-3 - try something f*cking new. Pull Alli into central midfield next to Eriksen, put Son up in place of Sanchez, and go 4-3-3, with Son and Lucas either side of Harry.

If we're vacating the wide spaces and allowing all these endless crosses to come in because Trippier is absolutely, irredeemably crap and Rose is growing to resemble Trippier...put Son and Lucas on the wings to close that space down and pin their full-backs back.

Unfair on Rose and on our approach so far. We haven't been overly troubled, goal aside. We need to keep strong and catch them on the break.
