*** Official 'Why is there no Lyon OMT?' OMT ***

Going into the opposition's "territory" getting drunk and shouting the odds(I don't buy that they're all there for a quiet drink) it's just asking for trouble. Or I guess it's just a coincidence that wherever our fans go they end up being attacked for no reason.

Oppositions territory?

I thought this was football not war...

Rumours i am seeing are saying it has to do with the 'far right'...

Yeh, how dare they go to Lyon to watch their team and dare to go out to a pub the night before, they shouldve all stayed in and done sudoko, asking for it I tell ya

Well I don't think anyone's ever had half the head cut off from playing Sudoku so maybe they should.

Is it me or have we lost the ability to fight back? fudge me 200 spurs fans in a pub should easily be able to hold their own

EDIT: I was in a pub for Twente away and we was attacked.
There was only 20-30 of us against about 150 but we gave as good as we got.

What pub? In Amsterdam? Or in that mall thing behind the home end? The one with food court sort of stuff. We were there and it was mellow. it was also fudging freezing mind you...

Where have I said football is all about fighting or glorified it?
Im just trying to put my point across that this so called source is talking absolute crap and trying to make this out to be something terrifying when the truth is far from that.

I spoke to my mate a few minutes ago (See earlier post) and he said it was just 20 geezers who got a bit rowdy throwing brick and eventually got chased off by spurs fans and a few spurs stewards. Spurs "Security" doesnt exist.

Depending on who it is, they will be scared. Sorry. That's life. You were young once and you won't convince me you've never exagerrated back in your youth. Their 'crap' is likely the result of being really scared it was going to kick-off big-time.

Yes, I heard a similar thing to you from someone who goes home and away all the time, but they absolutely said they were very happy the Spurs stewards were on-hand and that the police were called quickly. They also said it was a fascist thing.

Err, well, you see, I think it may be to do with the "Jewish Thing". Lazio's fans has well known fascist connections, and the gang that attacked Spurs fans were, by all accounts, a bunch of semi-departed skinheads.

So, you see, it had very little to do with football, but much more to do with extreme right wing ideology, and their perception that Tottenham Hotspur fans = Jews. And their belief that Jewish people, and all other non-Ayrans, are inferior to them and must be purged from society.

So basically you're trying to defend the worst kind of scum in the world and trying to justify their actions in some way.

To be honest, you're a bit of prick for saying that.

Regardless of what motivated it, it doesn't really have anything to do with football or politics. These are the actions of some disturbed individuals. Whenever I go somewhere that isn't Tottenham I always try and keep as low a profile as possible as there will always be idiots around that only need the slightest whiff of an excuse to start something. Generally speaking, as a football fan going to an away match, getting drunk and drawing attention to yourself or the fact that you support the away team is never a smart thing to do.

Steff,

It was in Enschede town center. We turned up at about 4 in the afternoon (It didnt kick off until later though) and they were already waiting for us. I'll try find the bar name if possible.

Also, I see the attack in Lyon has made national news now...
Not a good thing in my opinion. More focus going to be given to the "Yids" chant...

Ah, I see mate. Never went to the town center. We got the train out from the 'dam in the afternoon, had to change somewhere (can't remember where now) and
I ended up talking with a few Twente fans who seemed a bit dodgy at first (thus the old 'disarm them with friendly approach LOL)...Christ it was cold! That 'fan park' by the away end was empty!

Yes, the attention is inevitable. I wish Herbert would say something supportive of what the club/supporters go through instead of only speaking about what we're "doing wrong"...the cretin!

After the attacks in Rome we played West Ham and their fans didn't cover themselves in glory at WHL.

Again after attacks in the bar in Lyon out next match is away to West Ham.

I realy hope Gylfi can start this game. So my team is:

------------------Friedel------------
Walker-----Daws-----Vert--------BAE
------------------Parker-----------------
--Lennon-------Dempsey-------Gylfi
------------------------Bale-------------
--------------Ade----------------------
Still dont think Ade is right to play now but if we dont have anyone strong to take down the ball this team cant work...

Bit disappointed that Lloris won't be playing, think that could be a big mistake but hope I'm wrong.
Hope he plays Dawson too as we need a centre half who attacks the direct balls to their big No9. Too many times last week Verts backed off and allowed him to either win the header on or bring the ball down and get their moves started.

Poor decision on Lloris once again

Thing is I think Friedel is a fine goalkeeper, great save in the 1st leg btw.

I just think Lloris is better all round. I especially like the way he commands his area I even think he would've flung himself at the cross that Gallas cleared for their goal and punched it away.

Added to the fact he played at this ground for a number of years made this a no-brainer for me but oh well, we'll see...

Crunch match tonight and for me it will be all about Ade.
AVB has had the players together for a week and if Ade’s head or form ain’t right as many here claim he will not start and may not even feature.
I believe he will start and score and it will be the beginning of a thrilling season’s finale in direct contrast to last term.
0-0 is also a strong possibility but if we” click” as we gave signs of doing in the home leg I can see us scoring 3.
I have been neutral in the goalie war so far but I think Hugo should start against his old team tonight. Is there a link to a definite quote he won’t start?

Is there a record for how many consecutive goals a player has got for a top flight team without any other player in the team scoring? That's probably quite badly worded but my brain doesn't start working till pm.

0-0 a strong possibility? I'd be amazed if it ended 0-0

2-2 - Both by Bale

I thought both defences were excellent last week and there were 3 wonder goals and I can only remember Brad's great save and their guy had routine saves.
If it panned out the same way 0-0 is possible but I think and hope we can improve and we have 3 great goalscorers in our side.

Home tie 7 March against Inter Milan or Cluj if we prevail.
