I see Frank Ocean come out as gay the other day. Fair play to him, must be a tough thing to do in the music industry

I think possibly in the genre that he's in, but obviously plenty of musicians are openly gay, and many have used rumours of being gay to benefit their own careers

Yeah, I think it's definitely a genre thing though. Obviously if he was singing ballads, or some Lady Gaga type songs then you'd probably sort of guess. If you listen to some of the songs he sings about again though, it all sort of makes sense, but I think he may just be bi. He doesn't actually say he's gay, just that he fell in love as apposed to oh I love men. Fair play, can't begin to imagine how hard it is to out yourself when you have a following now etc.

Going to see Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros on thursday at Manchester Cathedral, really looking forward to it.

"Jon Lord, the legendary keyboard player with DEEP PURPLE co-wrote many of the bands legendary songs including 'Smoke On The Water' and played with many bands and musicians throughout his career.

Sad stuff, RIP Jon Lord. I'm dedicating this evening to him and Deep Purple.

OTOH, still contemplating if I'm going to see Saint Vitus tomorrow, seen them a couple of times before, but haven't been at a decent concert in almost a year.

This song just makes me wanna smoke an insane amount of weed, throw of all my clothes and masturbate. During the show I might be able to restrict myself to drinking beer and headbanging.

You, Sir, are on target for legendary status!

Last time I saw them in Oslo our old bass player was miserably drunk, and during the show he wandered off and somehow ended up in their tour bus. I laughed my ass off when I found out that he vomited in a couple of seats and pretty much the whole aisle. I remember the look on the managers face after the show, priceless stuff.

Thanks Gifter for posting this.
Best video of the year (so far).

Not their best song, but the album has really come to life after seeming them at manchester cathedral on thursday night. They were really really good live, Alex and Jade are two talented peeps, as are alot of the other 10 or so in the band! They create a special atmosphere where everything feels possible again, for me anyway (and I get the vibe that most people feel that as well). Soulbalm, like the video.

I enjoyed the Electric Guest video ALOT! Might ask the wife to take up hulahooping!

Just started listening to Bombay Bicycle Club's 'Flaws' album, that is a gem I missed

Absolutely massive. Got tickets for their Manchester gig in November, seen them a few times at festivals and the such

Snoop Dogg has renamed himself Snoop Lion following a visit to Jamaica, he has now also recorded a reggae track

Saw Blur on monday night at the Wolverhampton Civic (great venue by the way)... they can still cut it... unlike the support band, the Bots who were utter gash. They'll be worth a watch on Sunday at the Hyde Park gig to end the Olympics
