So many great films on my list I have yet to even watch yet and I watch a fair few per week I would say. Glad I am not relying on many of these "new" releases
Hollywood hasnt recovered from Covid, the writers' strike and just late capitalism eating itself in the guise of marvel & co. Im not sure it will ever recover.

An interesting observation is that all the great films in awards ceremonies are now always located in the best animation and best foreign language categories.

There is an assault currently occuring on the Arts in the US which is going to toxify society in a way most people cannot even fathom.

Yeh I agree

I also think to some extent TV/Streaming is now the new film for actors and performance. People like BBT in Landman, Costner with Yellowstone....you have De Niro in this new show this week, I think they also see more quality in the mini series writing than on the big screen too.

The next 4 years of Hollywood is going to be like enduring a continuous Jim Caviezel retrospective.

Soon any moderate directors will be smuggling out elictly made work on USBs into Canada, like all the amazing Iranian film makers do

Look at how Google have had to adjust their algorithms in the last few days to censor out the obscenities of Gay Pride and Black History Month, as an indication of things to come.

Hollywood has already become hugely sexless over the past decade, as the puritanical religious right have been getting their claws into film financing. So expect a continuation along those lines.

And no chance of any non-WASP males being able direct films or tell their stories.

I watched September 5 up cinema earlier this week which was a decent thriller, felt a bit like an episode of The Newsroom without Aaron Sorkin’s snappy dialogue.

Shall have to rewatch Spielberg’s Munich movie which dramatised the aftermath.

I really hope that California holds onto being, well, California, and that as such, the US film industry can fight it off.

...it's unbelievable yet is isn't because it's happening. I am clinging to the hope we get a 'punk' reaction...
