O/T Capello Resigns / New England Manager Speculation Thread

FA confirm they're looking for an English replacement with hands on experience with premiership players. Danielle Lloyd is now 2/1 favourite

What was Redknapps contract when he came? 1yr? I cant remember..

I think when he lined up Arneson, Santini and Jol, he had huge vision. To give Jol the reigns wasnt planned, but what I think he's good at, is improvising, and acting for that specific moment if things go tits up.

Remember when we waited 18 months for a manager!!? Since then, we've rolled pretty quickly on these issues...I think if Harry goes (in the summer), we'll have someone in within the week.

imo

I thought that was a weird little trio. From what has been said, it would appear that he got in Arnesen. Arnesen told Levy to hire Jol as the Manager. Levy didn't want to and wanted a big name instead, so hired Santini against Arnesen's advice, but to placate Arnesen we got in Jol as Assistant Manager (against Santini's wishes). That for me is a clusterfudge right there. You have to back the people you hire, trust their judgement. In one fell swoop Levy undermined both Arnesen and Santini. Santini walked, Jol was promoted as Manager thanks to Arnesen (and according to Santini, he was undermined from day one by both Arnesen and Jol). Arnesen then does the dirty on Levy (for money it would seem, but it makes you wonder whether after the Santini debacle Arnesen didn't exactly feel the need to have any loyalty) and then Comolli is brought in to replace him. Comolli and Jol fall out and around and around we go.

Sky Sports News have just asked Harry Redknapp about the Euros. He's brick himself! "Euros, what Euros?!? They told you, I ain't guilty!!"

The way he dealt with Jol was awful, but Ramos' appointment was'nt a bad one, until he lost the plot and started mis-managing the team....for whatever reason. Some say he was trying to get sacked. Who knows.

imo

Ramos was a disastrous appointment. The League Cup just papers over the cracks.

rubbish. santini was france manager and jol at some unknown club in holland. if levy wanted jol at that time he would have appointed him, like he did when it went tits up

It's not rubbish. Do you remember those months in 2003 between October and when Santini was appointed. The expectation was HUGE!! If Levy had of announced Jol after all that there would've been an uproar.

IMO.

IMO.

Santini was angry about not getting beachside house that was promised to him, something like that..

I do wonder if we'd even had had that little crisis under Jol if we hadn't been courting Ramos. Human psychology is a strange thing, and quite often when players know that a Manager is leaving (and it was obvious as soon as the Ramos meeting took place that Jol was out the door) the form of the team goes down the bricker.

I will defend any man to stick to his guns, I for one am not prone to changing my mind when it's set.

The point is, IMO! That Totman constantly tried to portray himself at the best fan as he would never consider moving to Stratford, and now that we will lose Harry it's down to those who have criticised him, they have driven him out the club. gonadS.

This holier than thou brick is doing my head in, I don't like having my loyalty and affection for the club questioned by anyone, so I said so.

well he's wrong then - because I have been told that I think I am the best fan ever
so there.

so good I live in Bermuda to prove it

It went very badly wrong.

But I don't think that that was necessarily predictable. It certainly wasn't inevitable.

For the first few months under Ramos, we played some outstanding football. I remember a 1-1 draw against Man Utd when they equalized in the final minute. WE absolutely shat on them for the remainder of the game. By far the best performance we've had against that lot over the past ten years - or more.

So I wouldn't say that it was a disasterous appointment. Rather, it was an understandable appointment that, for whatever reason, didn't work out. It happens.

Santini wasn't happy that he wasn't allowed to bring in his own number two, or that players were being bought that he didn't want. The player in question being Carrick!

Bloody hell, youve got a good memory. He refused to play him didnt he? Jol was the one who started using him
