Rather presumptious of you. etc.

It wasn't aimed at you specifically

I grew up in the 60s and 70s where a daily paper was as quick as news got to be

now all news is instant, everything is now now now - and so its only right that people of your generation expect instant everything

the closest thing in football is abramovitch/mansour sponsored instantaneous success.

Learning to nurture and wait is what younger people, than my generation, have to learn, but thats life, and how the world turns. The only thing that is constant is change.

I would like to see HR reject England, and stay on, but I'd have to stop logging in here, the Gutterboy mentality that has drowned this board is doing my head in now. I can see why CAS and the older posters don't hang around anymore.

Shame really,

Maybe there could be a forum for people over 40 - both age and IQ, that would probably be a calmer and less hysterical place.

It must be a hell of a effort to climb down from that high horse you sit on.

Sky Sports sources understand that Pep Guardiola has told Barcelona he will leave the club at the end of the season.

Cheeky contract offer?

Cue a ?ú100m bid from Emirates Marketing Project for Messi.

I can see it happening; think Emirates Marketing Project have the appetite to be able to boast about 'signing the first ?ú100m footballer'.

It'd take more than ?ú100m.

I just hope England don't approach Pep.

?ú120m then. No, make it ?ú150m. Ah to hell - ?ú200m!

The point is not one of affordability; more one of status which Emirates Marketing Project would wish to make. It's to be able to make the claim of having the most expensive footballer in world football at your club (...and with your brand)

Like I said, Im not convinced Guardiola could operate anywhere near as well outside of Barca.

The whole ethos and set up there is unique, he would struggle in England without such technical players and a more physical league IMO

You think Messi would go there? Always had the impression he was Barca for life...

Guardiola schooled many of their current 1st XI, and many of them have come out and said how their inherent sense of loyalty is strong because they feel a father-like bond to Guardiola. That's understandable. But things change - nothing ever stays the same.

Guardiola feels like he wants to leave Barcelona - the club which is in his heart. To do that, you gotta suspect that something isn't quite right there? So Barcelona move on - but where to? Who do they bring in, that could instantly match the respect with Pep had amongst that squad? It's a very, very short list. And whoever does come in, they're on a hiding to nothing as Guardiola has set such a high bar; with that comes unrealistic levels of expectation, and therein pressure. People react in funny ways when under pressure, and what's to say that the current squad might not like how a new manager dealt with it?

If Messi starts to feel unsettled, then why wouldn't he fancy a move? If Guardiola pops up at another high profile club with strong financial resources, then why wouldn't Messi feel drawn to go and work with a manager who believed in him, and brought him so much personal success? I certainly wouldn't rule any sort of move out - history has shown that loyalty is few and far between; both - it has to be said - from the players, and from the fans.

As I said - nothing in football lasts forever.

Pep told the club he wants 2 go (something he has been thinking about for 6 months). Club asked him 2 sleep on it.Tmrr confirmation

Its a fair shout, though on that basis I would imagine next summer rather than this.

Well yeah, I don't mean he'd leave off of the back of Guardiola taking his decision to go. I'm taking a view that, should the incoming manager not live upto what will be unrealistic expectations, then I think it sets the canvas for established players to consider their long-term futures.

I really dunno what to make of Guardiola sometimes. I listen to him in interviews and I just get this sense of someone so utterly self-absorbed. He does preach a damn good style of football - of that there can never be a doubt - but he really doesn't take defeat all that well; a touch of the Villas-Boas about him at times.

I do wonder actually: would Andre Villas-Boas pop up at the Nou Camp next season? He's another scholar of the game, and his studious methods would closely tie back to how Guardiola conducts his business. AVB's credibility and stock has to have taken a real whack with how it all went at Chelsea though; especially considering the bloody caretaker is getting more out of them, with less resources, and less experience on his CV!

That said, the Nou Camp powerbrokers might fancy a bit of Terry Conner :-k

I just hope England don't approach Pep.

More chance of Harry approaching a chalkboard.

Er, hang on, I'm a Redknapp defender! What the hell am I saying? Getting totally lost in all the chaos...

...a bit like most of Redknapp's defenders, right??! Haha...

...oh no, I'm doing it again aren't I?

The thing is Guardiola is pure Barca, and as I say they are a unique set up. How would he get on trying to build a midfield with Parker and Sandro for example?! I have doubts as to how successfull he will be elsewhere.

AVB I imagine will have to take a smaller club to rebuild his reputation before ever being considered for a top job.

Terry Conner though, that guy must be on the short list!?

did Guardiola implement the system which Barca are using or was he just around whilst some others set it all up and is now benefiting from ?

if he had a big role in the set up of the system in the early stages then id imagine he could do well at another club if he was afforded the time to do the ground work and try and replicate it all.

just going in and managing another side will probably end in tears though

Guardiola wouldn't last a season at Spurs imo. Hes la liga through and through. fudge sake he plays with 1 defender at times. We'd get bombarded with crosses
