Thought Sid Lowe said these were fake quotes?

Yes those Mourinho quotes were the daily mail getting the wrong end of the stick.
In the press conference he was asked would he do it all again (as in any regrets) said yes - would do it all again.
Daily Mail reported it as he would sign a new contract.

If i thought we could get mourinho then obviously him but i just don't buy it.

My favourites would be:

Lambert= He was a winner as a player and he has continued that into coaching, his teams have steel about them. He played abroad which i thinks help to be a more rounded individual, also did his coaching badge in Germany a country i much admire. Cool surname to.

Coyle = No one seems to be talking about him this year but i feel bolton are only a striker away from being a very good side, with a bigger budget he would do well i think.

Poyet = Was unsure about him till a couple of weeks ago because brighton played far to open of nice attacking football, but he seems to have responded to that and i always liked him as a man anyway.

I Like AVB.
He played some great stuff at Porto and he tried it with Chelsea but there players were over the hill.

I saw one of his scouting reports which was leaked onto the internet and it was sensational.

It would be better if Mourinho was not in this poll, It is obvious that everybody would like him to take over but It might not be realistic.

I have voted "other", which is a bit nonsensical as I can't name who it might be! I would like to think that Daniel Levy has already approached a suitable candidate, who will come totally out of "left-field" and will leave us all stunned (hopefully for all of the right reasons)?

Mourinho said yesterday that he wanted to stay with Real Madrid. Really can't see it happening. Of all the other managers mentioned, I would take Moyes. I know people don't like his style of football, but he wouldn't need to play the same type of football that his Everton team play to get results. There's no doubt he would definitely toughen us up.

Personally, I would like a manager who has the balls to stand up to the top managers, especially Ferguson. Moyes hasn't been afraid to slate City publicly on more than one occasion. Let's face it, what he has done with Everton is impressive, he's a better manager than Lambert and Rodgers.

Please just not Tim Sherwood.

He doesnt NEED to play the style he does now, he chooses to. Thats the issue.

The likes of Lambert and Rodgers have proven you dont need money to play attacking and attractive (and not suicidal!) football.

In 10 years at Everton Moyes has had more than ample opportunity to mould an attractive side. Instead he has moulded one of the dirtiest and most boring in the league.

Yes: Mourinho, klopp, klinsmann, rodgers

No: Moyes, benitez, AVB, Capello

Klinsmann is a DoF, not a coach. Won't move from the US either.

No he didn't - the Mail made it up (mentioned on p1).

Bielsa. As much as I think he's great, I'm not sure what his english is like, dont need another Ramos situation. Although I would love to see Bielsa's tactics in the prem.

Rodgers is interesting.

I would have to say Mourinho. And would take AVB too.

I agree to a certain extent. But he will have much better players at Spurs. He'd actually have money to spend as well. Everton's style of football would not suit our team, surely he would realise that.

Would people accept his style of football if it got us in the top 4 every season? Because they would clearly accept anything if Mourinho took over.

i certainly wouldn't be upset at getting Rodgers in - would be a bit of a risk though. but i would like to see us break the trend of not giving younger British managers a chance at the top.

i think that there are lot of managers out there that can cut it at the top level but never get the chance because no one wants to take a risk on a manager who hasn't 'been there and done it' before and i think there is a lot of nonsense spouted when people come up with reasons as to why you need a 'big name manager'

Mourinhos teams play vastly superior football to Moyes IMHO. While defensively they are impressive they also score record numbers of goals with total domination of opponents (generally)

My cocnern with Moyes, and those who advocate him, is that I see no proof whatsoever that he can adapt. He has had the time and opportunity to do so thus far and never has.

I do not believe if we signed him he will miraculously have a team playing champagne football and turning on the style.

And yet there are plenty who have the blind faith that somehow he is being forced into playing dour football by Everton and at Spurs (and the much mentioned budget involved) he would turn on the sexy football.

As I said, or as Rodgers and Lambert have said, it doesnt take money to play attractive and winning football.

I believe much of Swansea's passing ethic and team play came from the managers who were there before Rodgers, Roberto Martinez and Paulo Sousa. They implemented Swansea's slick style, and signed many of the players Rodgers now uses. I'm not saying Rodgers' isn't part of or a cause of Swansea's success; he clearly is. But how much of that success is down to him and how much is down to those who came before him is still open to debate, imo. So I don't quite think he's ready.

Klopp would be magnificent, but unlikely. I'm plumping for either AVB (left-field option) or Moyes (the safe choice), somewhat unappealing though both may be at this point in time.
