Next Manager?

I’ll buy you a beer (or something else you like)
And we can chat F2F
And I’ll throw in that if you want a real fair barometer of Spurs fans spooky is your man

Defo, mate - look forward to it.

I followed Spooky for a long while - Dear Mr. Levy used to be my go-to in the early to mid 2010s, back when I still thought Levy was great with a few flaws that Spooky lampooned with his letters - his ITK video is still a classic in my eyes. :p Haven't followed what he's been writing more recently, though.

I haven’t said anything that you mention in your last paragraph
I’d like knew owners
But I don’t see anyone buying the club now as were massively over valued
And I don’t see ENIC ploughing money in that they simply don’t have. They will spend what we earn because they can
Beyond that the only way we can compete more is by having a manager and coach who will improve the side better than the some of its part. Conte has done that before. Poch did that here. There are others who can do just that and would bite the hand off for the chance, just like a Poch did when he joined.
Ok my apologies, I got the impression you seem
To think ENIC are on the right path.

I know we are unlikely to get new owners and that’s why I find this utterly soul destroying, we are a shambles of a club. That’s a photo of the last time I get positive over this football club, at the Wanda metropolitano just before the CL final kicked off. Then 23 seconds later those hopes were shattered and the sad thing is that little voice in my head that had been telling me to enjoy those theee weeks between the semi and the final because this was as good as it gets and we will fall hard, seems to have been proven correct.
I would love to be totally wrong about ENIC, yes we progressed off the pitch and have the longest bar in Europe but I really don’t care, their modus operandi isn’t working, they have no idea on how to coherently bring success on the pitch.
Why even bother going for Conte, you know what type of manager he is….the whole thing is an utter shambles and I really can’t see anyway out of it

If paratici does come in. Levy needs to be honest (not least to himself). Tell him what type of manager we are looking for. Hopefully one that's up for a project and has a history of improving teams. Then tell him his transfer budget and wage budget. And then just leave it down to him and whomever he choses as manager to just get on with it. Buy and sell whomever they want in that range.

It's all a bit of a mess isn't it? Levy certainly doesn't do things the easy way.

I also find your lack of imagination disturbing. At a time when the Euro 20-summinks are dominating the headlines, Levy has managed to keep Spurs at the top of most sport pages day after day. That's no mean feat in marketing the club at a time like this.

Getting Paramici might well have been his true end game. Getting a manager who can work under proper constraints is a secondary priority. With Conte, that weren't never gonna happen. First and foremost, it's always been about Conte.

And his foreshadowingly named daughter, Veeck-torrria. Va'funculo, Conte.

Win at all costs, eh? Spurs aren't there yet. But if one opens one's mind, we can see it's coming.

This convo without links is nuffink.

2 League Titles in 138 years and fans think we are a big club...;) TTID
Financially we are a big club. We've been in the top 20 european clubs for income every year for the last 20 years. Most of that time we've been in the top 10.

Compare our trophy cabinet with other clubs that statement can be applied to and you might just understand why so many fans are fed up and tinkled off

If it is true that we are pulling out of talks with Conte due to incompatible requirements than I'm super confused. Why did we even try for him? What he wants and the way he works is well known.

Did Levy think that Come would be content to just work with young players and a sale to buy policy? He walked out on his Inter a side that he had just won a league title with for that exact reason!

I don't rate Levy but I don't believe he's actually stupid.

A rather weird approach. Conte doesn't suit the spending patterns of this club, not even the stated desire for a return to attacking progressive football.

Was Levy once again glamoured by the glittery "big name?"

First of all, let's keep it civil please. These are weird times all round, and let's remember we all support the same club at the end of it.

My personal take on this is that someone has played the PR leak game spectacularly wrong. It could be Conte's side, it could be us. Poch popping up in the middle of it all was extremely confusing, and this subsequent exchange on the back pages is both messy and undignified. We are excellent at keeping things quiet if we want to, so this past week was someone's brainchild. I personally think it is disastrous. I cannot even begin to entertain the 'fact' that DL might not have done his due diligence on Conte and what he is about. In fact, let's just hope upon hope that is flim-flam.

I would not be unhappy to see Potter at this point. Poch? Come on. That's heart stuff, but did we ever really, really believe it?

Whoever will accept a tiny budget, sales before buys and new signings turning up right at the end of the window (if at all) I’d imagine....

If this has always been our stance, then we had absolutely no business whatsoever even picking up the phone and calling Conte, let alone all the guff leaking to the press (unless the was his camp).

Still, it feels as though there's more to this ride yet. I think we will know a hell of a lot more by next Thursday/Friday...
