Not when you had pochettino available knowing what he can do and what he may achieve with proper backing ... so instead let's go with another punt and hope it works in Danny's favour.

Honestly this club at the moment is a circus.

Kompany over pochettino would be just about be the end of Levy ...

Whilst I would prefer Nagelsman you are doing him a ridiculous injustice of credit there. I don't mean to sound rude but how often have you watched Burnley this season? They play fantastic football, to convert them from the physical route one side to a proper footballing team within one pre season has been brilliant to see. To suggest it's just because of his name is most definitely not the case....

Its hardly a ridiculous injustice to suggest that people are talking about a manager with one promotion, albeit playing good football, especially when you consider the fact that Sheffield United have been promoted playing good football, getting to the cup SF and not mentioning their manager. Why is that? I would suggest that its because he was not an ex Emirates Marketing Project player whose name is currently trending. BTW he may well go on to be the next best thing since toasted ciabatta but I don't think its a ridiculous injustice to suggest his name helps him here, Im pretty confident if Burnleys manager was not named Vincent Kompany you would not be given him second looks TBH

Im all for advocating young talent, I always said Howe was a good prospect manager but there was more known about him, the test for Kompany will be if he can translate this season to next and keep Burnley up, if he can I might share the same enthusiasm as others.

He's been a few years in Belgium too, where he made a long time mid table team play very entertaining football, and making them compete at the top, with very little resources.
Doing it once might be luck. When you've done it twice, and in different leagues, it's a pattern.

And I'm saying no, if it was just that then there are plenty of profile 'names' out there we could be all over. Facts are he was spoken about when still being a player as someone who will be a top manager by Pep who knows a thing or two amongst others who also said the same thing. He has learnt from the very best, and the went onto Anderlecht to cut his teeth. Then within a single pre season he has got Burnley to adapt to play by far the best football, which yeah is the Championship but in many ways makes that style of football even harder to implement - all whilst cruising to the league title makes it even more impressive.

Does the fact he was a top player do him any harm? Nope. But to suggest his profile is clouding judgement? Nah. There is far more about him than that, and to be honest I prefer fans to be more underwhelmed because it seems Nuno aside we do better when expectations are lower:D.....

I haven't seen the same numbers suggest a promotional manager from the Championship before though, so his name must be making some sway. I wasn't saying it was the only thing because promotion is an achievement but his name and it's certainly a factor IMO

Couple of years at least. Not been at their former heights, and it's been a downward slope since 2016. They were 8th and 6th the seasons before Kompany was manager, and 4th and 3rd with him. They're in 11th this season....

On the back of that, mourinho and Conte were almost hounded out as soon as they became the manager ... they won multiple titles in multiple leagues ...

And if Kompany jumps ship more showing no loyalty ... he will be off like a smelly chicken the first time of asking when city come knocking ...

Still got to get them to perform the way you want. Look at Chelsea for example.
