Mauricio Pochettino - Sacked

I find it difficult to put our current travails still at the door of our guys exploits at the World Cup.
It feels like we are looking for an easy excuse. I think it’s just down to our old friend the lack of squad depth/finances.

You don't think that the bulk of our first team going deep in the world cup would effect our tactics at the start/middle of the season or that it means they would need managing fitness wise?

Fair enough but it seems quite an obvious reason as to why we don't press like we used to to me

Not sure!
I think having just Sissoko and young Winksy as our midfield don’t do us any favours.

I don’t get Wanyama still being with us, obviously can’t sell him and he can only play in emergencies.
Dier has been in a similar place the year.
Sad situation. We got lucky with Sissoko.
I think they are two different situations. Wanyama had a chronic injury and either had a further set back or had been seriously unlucky to miss the best part of 2 seasons now. He’s also looked off the pace when he has played, the best thing we can hope for all concerned is manages to feature in enough games at the minimum performance level to either entice another club to take a chance on him or he reaches his previous levels like is where he then becomes the archetypal ‘new signing’ with an added loyalty effect.
Dier has had tonsillitis and appendicitis, which hopefully won’t have the same long term effect on his play and is either very unlucky or its an elaborate cover up for something else (genuinely overheard someone suggesting this not too long ago, when one of the rags ran a story about a Christmas party!)
With dembele showing his steep physical decline last season we just have either thought Wanyama was going to be available from the get go, genuinely had to sell a player before we could allocate funds to a replacement or it was risk accepted we would be using Winks, Dier and Sissoko for the majority of the season.

I’m just having whing!
Bloody frustrating to this great season go to pot over the past few weeks.
I’m not seeing too many midfielders with skill set needed for the task ahead except Sissoko for legs.
I’m not totally convinced about young Winks is going to last.

Understood.

With the greatest respect I think Wanyama can be replaced quite easily, Dembele had a unique skill set that I think needs to be replaced with someone who can put their foot on the ball and offer quick forward passes and maybe even a couple of goals down outside the box. I’d stick with Winks but sign someone else for th first team with these proven attributes for the first team to compete with and influence him. I would not under estimate the value of having academy products around competing for first team places, Fergie made good use of them.

Agree re Winks, I think he has been thrown in the deep end to large extent and he’s done great.
Looking at the bigger picture, let’s hope we get this midfield sorted this summer!

Mauricio Pochettino has admitted interest in the Real Madrid job one day, but reiterated his commitment to Tottenham in the meantime.

The Spurs boss was one of the favourites for the Merengues job after Zinedine Zidane’s shock resignation last summer and was understood to remain a candidate at the end of this season, until the Frenchman returned following Santiago Solari’s sacking recently

When put on the spot over what would happen if Madrid approached him, Pochettino said: “You put me in a compromising position.”

However, the Argentine insists he is looking forward to the future with Spurs after signing a new five-year deal recently, and with the opening of their new stadium just around the corner.

“I don’t have the feeling that I missed the Madrid train,” he told Mundo Deportivo.

“I don’t look at the long term, I’m happy and I still have four years left on my contract.

“There are always rumours, not just with me but with other colleagues in the profession. But 90 per cent of them are false. I’m very happy at Tottenham.

“Tottenham have a different philosophy. We are really motivated for the Champions League and with the opening of the new stadium. We have a lot of confidence in what we're doing.”

I have a nagging suspicion that this could be the case.
I have a feeling that negotiating has started in earnest also do not think Pochettino is Man Us only candidate.
Don’t see Ole getting the gig though, I know I’m in the minority on here.

Depends on top 4

If they get that why wouldn’t they?

Even more so if one of the rivals for the job missed out to him.

I'm thinking for once Man U. is being unusually astute.
I have a feeling they may go for neither and have set their sights even higher looking at others in Italy Spain and Germany.

This, for me Jol was the man who started our rise from the depths to where we are now.

I'll never forget that night against Getafe when it came out he was going. I don't think I've ever felt such an emotional tug at my heart strings for a comparative stranger as I did that night. Then seeing Levy and Commolli joined by that fat clam Kemseley laughing. It was such a bricky night all round

But hey, was all worth it for how good things turned out with Juande Ramos!

i was at the game when the rumour started coming around the ground, i am a big fan of Levy but that was handled very badly by him.
