Mathys Tel

It was very widely reported by the bbc and others... what am I missing here?

Has any team won three promotions in a row?
AI Overview
Yes, Wrexham AFC made history in April 2025 by becoming the first team in the top five tiers of English football to achieve three consecutive promotions, a "back-to-back-to-back" promotion from non-league to the Championship under owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. While other teams have achieved three successive promotions, some being league champions, Wrexham's feat was particularly remarkable as it was the first time a club had achieved this in England's top five divisions.

I doubt there is any scenario whereby Tel would have agreed to sign for us if he thought he would not be in the UCL squad.

He had to show his worth on the pitch tbf. So far it has to be said he has been underwhelming and unlike other positions there is a lot of competition where he plays.
Hopefully it's a kick up the backside that we benefit from long-term

Its been foreseeable for a long time that we'd have about half-a-dozen players over our limit. The Muani signing obviously screwed him, but the injuries to Maddison and Takai also helped him.
