Manager Sack Watch

Viera would've kept them up and he's not going to be exactly a long-term appointment.
It shows a real lack of planning and that the sacking was a bit of a knee-jerk if they had nobody else lined up.
They could've waited till after the weekend and sorted it out during the international break.

We don't know if viera would have kept them up.

It doesn't have to be a long term appointment.

They could have sacked him earlier. After the villa game.

At the end of the day we don't know. Parish feels there is more of a chance of palace staying up with hodgson in charge for the rest of the season than viera. He might be wrong, but it's his money on the line. He gets to make that bet.

Of course, it is Parish's money and his choice, doesn't mean that I or anyone else has to agree with it. If you don't want to form an opinion because it ain't your money knock yourself out.

I'd be pretty confident that Palace would've started to pick up points again after the international break with a much easier run of games. The only bad result since the start of the year was the defeat to Southampton, the rest were either draws or a loss by one goal to teams that are far better.

Can form an opinion. But don't state it as fact.

I think he would have kept them up, they were not getting slapped (bar us and Fulham) and had probably the toughest run of games I have seen in some time. Its about having the bottle to trust that the new plan you have gone down will work, if as reported, they go back to Hodgson then its laughable IMO. You want to go for a longer term plan thats fresh and vibrant, there will be bumps in the road, if you ain't willing to ride them out then you deserve what you get TBH

there ain’t many around who are

They had one who would arguably keep them up, anyone that saw anything of Watford under Hodgson or the end days at Palace with his low block and 10 men behind the ball at 2-0 down know his reputation may go before him now days. One of the reasons they got rid of him was that they believed he was not the right man to manage the players they had with his low block, funny to go back to that.

This was the post Covid run, with the Palace fans back, there was a reason he was gone

Anyway as I said earlier, I just don't see it as progressive for a club like Palace who have quoted before as saying they want to be progressive to get rid of a manager for that in favour of going backwards again, regardless of the only to end of season remit, that becomes a cycle (they have had to deploy that tactic more than once)

The fact that they did it two days before Arsenal and didn't wait until Monday, when there's a two week break, tells me something must have been going on behind the scenes.

Had a look at a Palace forum and there's some stuff about Vieira not answering his phone. Someone also suggested Parrish didn't want to sack him just yet, but lost the vote to the American owners.
