Manager Sack Watch

Saw this thread had new post and was sure it was either Lampard or Potter.
Slightly disappointed.

How the fudge does Lampard still have a job?

Potter I just want for the statistics
- They paid >£21M to get him
- He and all his backroom staff are on a 5 year deal, he's on >£10M/yr

So they will probably end up paying about £70M for a manager for less than a full season, plus £20M for 5 months of Joao Felix .. fudging hell

Plus they've signed 12 other players for a combined total of over €400m.
13 players signed, 7 wins :D

Don't think everton can afford to sack him. Usmanov was the real money man, he's been sanctioned. They have the stadium to pay for with inflation and interest rates gone up.

I did find interesting a comment from a Chelsea fan this week which was a little throwaway but has some truth. "Since he left Brighton, they've scored twice as much as they did under him and we're scoring half as many under Potter as we did under Tuchel". As ever, there is an element of truth and an element of using stats to create a narrative.

The argument for Potter was always that he had Brighton playing great football but they just couldn't score and that must have been because he had brick strikers as their xG was always relatively high. Last year, they scored 42 goals in 38 league games under him. Since the new lad has come in, they've averaged almost 2 goals a game in 11 league games.

On the other hand, Chelsea have scored 13 goals in 12 league games since Potter's come in whereas last season they scored an average of two goals a league game.

As ever with stats, there is a counter argument...in the first six games of this season when Potter was at Brighton, they averaged almost 2 goals a game (heavily skewed by 5 goals in his last game v Leicester) and Chelsea only averaged 1.3 goals under Tuchel so you could say that both Chelsea and Brighton have continued as they were since he switched clubs.

The stats are inconclusive but it'll be interesting to see over the course of the season and beyond if Potter's Chelsea continue to underperform in front of goal and if there is an element of "Emperor's New Clothes" about him.

I don’t think they can afford not to.

He’ll relegate them.

The problem he has is the ownership are buying everything that moves with no idea of what they are doing and how to build a team or what type of player Potter wants.
They have over paid on some poor, average and past it players.

That's a great post. Will be interesting to see whether those stats continue for the next few weeks and months

Potter plays the same formation as Conte so I guess is at risk of the same failing that we've had at times i.e. dependancy on wing-backs

Jesus I almost had a heart attack just now. I stumbled across the wiki page for Belgium and Poch is listed as their coach!

Just because you can't afford to miss a day of work, doesn't mean you can afford to get there. Ffp is a consideration aswell.

Just send him home, get him as far away from the squad as possible, keep paying him if you have to, but stop the damage his mere presence is doing.

Surely both Frankie DeTory and Todgers have got to go tonight? Its madness to keep either on while Dyche is available
