Lukaku

Re: would Chelsea sell us Lukaku?

Costa does work hard pressing from the front, but then most players at top teams do these days.

Didn't know Lukaku had fallen out with Jose but then he fell out with AVB before that

Re: would Chelsea sell us Lukaku?

Could be that Lukaku or those advising him doesn't think he has to earn his place.

Re: would Chelsea sell us Lukaku?

He has the physical attributes, but does he have the same drive and hunger that Drogba did? Only time will tell, but if Jose is willing to let him go you have to wonder.

One of the West Brom coaches was recently saying that last season Lukaku was always asking what he could do better, what weaknesses they could tell him about defenders and goalkeepers that he was about to play.
His drive to improve has come across often when hearing his those who play with him and have been responsible for coaching or managing him.

Re: would Chelsea sell us Lukaku?

If I were him and I had a choice between Everton and Spurs I would choose Everton, a stable club with an intelligent young manager. Everton may not be a rich club but only the new financial deal by finishing 4th or 5th there will be enough money to buy him for about £20-25m

Not disagreeing with you, but in most cases (yes I know not all) players do tend to follow the money. Redknapp wasnt lying when he said it doesnt matter whether youre in Europe or not, its the wages offered that a player is really interested in....

In which case we probably would still not get him as there are clubs that can offer a lot more wages than us

Re: would Chelsea sell us Lukaku?

If Chelsea have any sense they will not sell him until after the World Cup where he will be first choice for his country. Heck if he has a very good WC Jose may decide to keep him

Re: would Chelsea sell us Lukaku?

I think outscoring all the other Chelsea strikers over the last two season whilst out on loan at two different clubs is enough to earn a shot at the Chelsea #9 role.

Re: would Chelsea sell us Lukaku?

he has those dodgy knees that he never seems to have any trouble with :) im sure joining Spurs would soon change that

If there is one thing our medical staff know about is knees. It might be the only thing actually.

I was talking about in relation to Everton. We still offer good wages, and not sure many top CL clubs would be in for him. Levy offers decent wages if he deems the player a big enough asset. For a potentially explosive player like him, and at his age I could see him offering a decent packet...

It maybe depend on what he does during the world cup, he is going to be the spearhead in a very offensive minded Belgium team that could make him look very good during the world cup. If that happens the demand will be immense. But I could well see him stay at Everton to learn under an excellent young manager. Why should he be anxious to sign for Spurs, a club that lacks managerial stability?

Still not seeing the big deal about this guy. Only seen him play well once, but that was against Spurs. Not exactly a good measuring stick. Don't see him becoming more than a second level player, upper mid table. Mourinho knows.

He is absolutely not the type that Poch IMO would like.. Lukaku is a statue, only seems to run when he has the ball at his feet.

Agree about the comment.. Mourinho knows.

The guys 21 and got 15 Premier League goals last season and 17 the season before that.

Berbatov was 27 when he left us and he'd got 12 goals one season and 15 the season after that.

If a young kid has a better goal return than our greatest ever Premier League goal scorer than I think it's safe to say there's something about him!

Completely different players with completely different roles in their teams. I don't get the relevance of the direct comparison.
