Lukaku

Its the same in this Brazil game.. loved the comment by Lawrenson when Jo made one run and he said he has run more than Fred did for the rest of the game.

Re: would Chelsea sell us Lukaku?

It maybe depend on what he does during the world cup, he is going to be the spearhead in a very offensive minded Belgium team that could make him look very good during the world cup. If that happens the demand will be immense. But I could well see him stay at Everton to learn under an excellent young manager. Why should he be anxious to sign for Spurs, a club that lacks managerial stability?

If he was anxious about managerial stability why would he have signed for Chelsea in the 1st place? Tbh Everton were lucky to get Martinez but their chairman cannot match Levy's ambition for his club. Kenwright would be perfectly happy to finish 5th every season whereas Levy wants more. If Martinez is happy to buy into this then that shows a lack of ambition on his part IMO. Lukaku like many other young players would, IMO given the choice opt for Spurs over Everton every time.

I have been watching him and to keep an open mind. His physical ability is evident. However, his first touch is poor. For that reason, I don't think that he will make it as a top class player.

Jesus Christ! What do people want in a striker? He's done very well for Everton and WBA in consecutive seasons. He would be incredible leading the line for us.

People would be on his back within 2 games. Guaranteed. I can hear the world famous white hart lane sighs already

The more i watch him the more i believe that he's not the kind of striker we exactly need ( need , but not want) . Especially his hold up play is pretty average.

Aboslut no chance of buying him anyway...chelski wont sell him to us

My I ask what is that rule, I have not heard it?

The Webster ruling is a test case in association football law involving Andy Webster, a defender formerly with Heart of Midlothian football club in Edinburgh, Scotland. In September 2006 he became the first player to exploit the updated transfer regulations of FIFA, football's governing body, which stipulated that players are able to unilaterally walk away from a contract after a fixed period, regardless of the duration of the contract itself. Although the long-term effects of the decision remain unclear, it has been compared to the landmark Bosman ruling of 1995 in its potential significance

Sheez he was terrible today, just standing around. No ambition, no drive, no clue what to do, no intelligence, rightly subbed off

Yeah he had a very poor game. Offered nothing, that kid they brought on did more in his first few moments in terms of movement and running than Lukaku had done in all of his time on the pitch up till then!

So if this becomes the norm, it would be point less any contract being longer than 3 years, just get the to renew every year. That way he can't walk on a Webster rule, if he doesn't renew sell so he can't walk on a bosman.

I think that there was feeling that the clubs would just between them whoever puts that ruling into action will not play top flight football again. No top club would sign them. End of Webster ruling, clubs taking back power.

There was some kind of unspoken agreement.

The player Matuzalem decided to quit Shaktar Donetsk and join Real Zaragoza. He was ordered to pay them 12 million euros for breach of contract and later banned from football by CAS as he didn't have the money. It was overturned by a Swiss court as it made it harder for him to pay back the money.

A poor World Cup might make him gettable...

He obviously has some weaknesses, but I still think he's one of the more exiting strikers we could potentially (perhaps, maybe, if lucky) buy.

Funny you should say that...
Chelsea cut price of Spurs-linked Romelu Lukaku after poor World Cup displays, claim reports

According to that article, Chelsea had originally put a price of £32m on Lukaku, but based on his bad World Cup performances are now willing to let him go for £20m. They quote the Daily Express who themselves quote nobody. So it's probably a load of made-up bulls**t. But if it's true that two individual performances can wipe £12m off the value of a player, then may I humbly suggest that football has finally gone completely stark raving mad.

To be fair as you alluded to thats such a predictable made up piece of nonsense. Although, if you have a good world cup you have millions added onto the fee so if you have a poor one why shouldnt you have millions knocked off?!
