Keane’s opinion was fair enough I thought. He didn’t even go that hard by his standards and it had merit.

Fair play to Maddison for how he responded today on the pitch and in his interview. Hopefully he keeps it up. Thought he had a very good game today.
Yes he did go hard, he said 'He got relegated with Leicester and he'll get relegated with Spurs' which was utterly ridiculous....Keane’s opinion was fair enough I thought. He didn’t even go that hard by his standards and it had merit.

That was a silly thing for Keane to say but I’m not sure he believed it. It seemed tongue in cheek or throwaway to me but he should probably think before he says stuff like that with the profile he has and the reach the podcast has.Yes he did go hard, he said 'He got relegated with Leicester and he'll get relegated with Spurs' which was utterly ridiculous....
I like Keane anyway, always comes across well. As I didn't see the interview/podcast and just the script happy to go with your version and put it down as just a silly flippant comment. Either way, I think Maddison is an easy target - when you strip back actual productivity he is up there with our best players, can be pretty incredible those that constant get excused for poor performances vs those who are spacegoated....That was a silly thing for Keane to say but I’m not sure he believed it. That said, I thought his overall point on Maddison was fair and I’ve heard much, much worse from Spurs fans. He was also complimentary in parts about Maddison.
Most of the criticism was fair, Maddison’s response was excellent. Up to him now to keep proving Keane wrong.
The bit I’d criticise Keane for more to be honest, now I think of it, is “he’s good when he’s not at the darts”. Bit of a cheap shot. Maddison was at the darts but doing nothing out of the way and he’s entitled to a life outside of football. Reason I thought it was cheap was that Maddison got some stick for that from the knuckle draggers but Keane’s been a pro and should know the pressures. And Keane himself did much, much worse than going to the darts.I like Keane anyway, always comes across well. Thing is Keane can get away with such cheap shots because of who he is and what he achieved in the game. Yes he did much worse, but he has the accolades to back it up and almost all players he calls out do not come close to what he has accomplished and he knows it. These ex players should all be more empathetic towards players, but they usually aren't because of the demands of being in the media to come out with sensationalism. Sad to see really....The bit I’d criticise Keane for more to be honest, now I think of it, is “he’s good when he’s not at the darts”. Bit of a cheap shot. With or without productivity he's one of our best players.
Needs to do more to be consistent, but imo it's also on those around him and the club to make sure he's not the only creative outlet for the team. He's very good, but he's not carrying the creativity for the team on his own kind of good.
Maddison and Biss are the same... inconsistent. It something you either do or don't accept about them.It is the thing that bugs me about Maddison and it always has been, there is no doubting his talent but he has games wher he shows very little [imo]. He has been the same at both Norwich and Leicester and its such a shame.

It's harder to accept as humans because we like consistency and reliability...it makes us 'sure' about something.
It's hard for them personally as when they are good they are very very good, that then sets their standards and our expectations.
From a wider club/team pov you have to consider whether you can carry that type of player when aiming to be successful. It's harder to justify it when they both play CM position, an off day for them could be decisive. KOut of a cup, a league game lost in a league you can't lose more than 5 to win it.
And I'd suggest, consistency isn't something you are going to find at their age...it's too late.
You have made some good points and i do not really disagree with any of them. Maddison is a very talented player [ more so then Biss imo] I guess what annoys me more then anything about Maddidon is that he has the ability but for most of his playing time he has games were he does not stand out as much as he should [imo].
As for your last point i do agree that he probably will never change that consistency as it has been there at his previous clubs. As i have said it annoys me that some who is blessed with ability [which he has] fails to show it on a more regular basis.
If hecwas consistent to his ability. He'd have cost a lot more.
This was another 'I'll prove you wrong' performance by Maddison, except it hasn't. He's always been capable of a good game, he needs to do it consistently to prove people wrong.
13 games out of 24 played he's done nothing.9 goals, 4 assists in 23 PL appearances
