Im furious, absolutely disgusted

I went to a Chinese restaurant the other day with Mrs southstand1882

When we finished our meal, I asked for a doggy bag because we couldn't eat half of it

They said we couldn't have one (even though we had ordered from the a la carte menu and got through 2 bottles of wine)

The bill arrives with 15% optional service charge

I took immense pleasure in asking them to remove it, particularly when I explained to the manager why

I normally tip a minimum of 10% in a restaurant if the service has been good

If I have to wait excessively for attention, I don't tip at all

I always tip strippers too

The only tip they will get off me is the tip off my nob

I have a royal china near me - where the fudge do you work?

sorry for the confusion, my mistake

royal china on queensway is indeed excellent and has queues on a saturday

the buffet i was referring to is real china in whiteleys which doesn't have the same cache, but is 3.95 take away

royal China is good bit pricey - the one in Baker Street anyways - amazing stuff tho.

Im not a big fan of the crappy chinese and getting the bog standard crispy duck and kung po chicken etc

I like the good restaurants for chinese and indian. There is take away type chinese and indian then there is the good chinese and indian

What i do not get is how they are always full, i guess tourists and day trippers. Went in them when i was a lot younger to fill up on food when out on the tinkle, last time i went in one of the crappy ones was when we were rushed for time before the theatre. I had the two bob bits the next day.

If you want to do China Town, you need to find one of the simple looking places full of Chinese and order simple, standard food. Pork/Duck and rice, Hanan Chicken and rice, conjee, noodle soup, crispy noodles. There's a wicked Singaporean restaurant opposite De Hems that does a cracking chicken curry and roti and proper Singaporean crab dishes and is cheap. Imperial China is brilliant for Dim Sum... Cheung Fun, fried Vietnamese spring roles, chicken curry pies, turnip cakes, and all the dumplings you could ask for.

Alot of takeaways are getting better though, I'm noticing proper food appearing on menus slowly.
