Huddlestone

Gutted before his injury he was playing the best football of his career, I thought he would even start to get the odd England cap as well.

If the lad can stay injury free and get a few games behind him (fitness wise) Sunderland are getting a bargain.

Sunderland are putting together a very good side, dont think they will challenge top 4 but I can see them finishing around 8th and having a good cup run.

I've always liked Hudd, but I think it's time to part. Pass the batton on to Little Tom.

I'd be surprised if he went to Sunderland and not Fulham though. Didn't think he was Di Canio's 'type' of player...

I'm ambivalent about Huddlestone departing... on the one hand he played an important part in us securing Champion League football in 2010 with his (occasionally) sublime passing and rocket shots but he just hasn't been as consistent since his injury problems and looks even less mobile.

If he's willing to bide his time and be used an impact sub, as he was so successfully against Emirates Marketing Project at the end of last season, then I'd like him to stay... but for a player of his talent he deserves to get more match time and he just lacks the athleticism to be a starter in a high intensity AVB style midfield. So perhaps a move to Sunderland might be best for him and us as Tom Carroll will get more playing time to develop as a player.

Love his passing ability but i also remember in our last game of the season against sunderland how he got the ball taken off him without much pressure, sums him up. He is a lovely passer of the ball but not the sort of player needed for where we want to be.

I thought carroll showed more promise when he came on in the games towards the end of the season, infact i would have gone out of my way to make him our playmaker for next season.

Probably the best for everyone involved if he moves on. He needs regular first team football to get back to his best and he won't get that with us I think.

I for one will have a heavy heart when he leaves though. It saddens me that we got to see him and Modric together in central midfield such a limited amount.

no sort of attachment then? at least you never get the hump when a player leaves us which is fair i guess

None at all, i have always thought he was the most overated player at our club and will be glad to see the back of him. Hopefully we will now see a bit more of Carroll

Sad to see him go, but the best for all parties. In hindsight, he should have left with Martin Jol, the last manager who really believed in him.

I think its particularly sad as he is a player who did largely come through our development system, at least from his late teens. Given the way he tries to play a classy type of game, you felt he was a true Tottenham player. He also seemed committed to the cause.... a senior pro who wasn't getting a regular game, could and maybe should have looked for a move earlier. But I also guess he was earning a good wage for a squad player. A shame he didn't get the chance to get the clippers out in the last season, though with a good run in the team at Sunderland its just a matter of time.

You need to build the side around someone like the Hudd. Yes, we could - and did - sometimes use him as an option under AVB, but there were games where it was just too obvious he wasn't suited to the system we wanted to play that day.

Also a shame to see him heading to Sunderland, who are going to have a very tough time ahead when the Di Canio honeymoon period runs out by September. Would have preferred a real footballing side like Swansea, or back with MJ at Fulham. At least he didn't end up at Stoke.

Good luck big man :(

Too many on here still judging him on last season's overall performance.

So maybe I'm the only one left standing who still believes he not only can, but WILL regain the imperious form he displayed in our CL qualifying season and that once he returns to that level and more he is capable of keeping some very big names out of the side whilst delivering a dimension we are seriously lacking these days - a bit of guile and invention.

luxury player. not good enough for us any longer, constant fitness issues. if someone will pay for him, move him on.

Was initially sad that he was leaving, then i saw that he would be earning 35,000 a week and that put things into perspective for me :ross:

I feel for him if he joins Sunderland. They've got an impossibly tough start to the season and I can see them imploding under Di Canio.

I think that every Spurs fan owes him a debt of gratitude for his performance in the Young Boys away game. We were a shambles before he came on and without him we might never have tasted Champions League football.
