Harry Kane MBE

Kane's outstanding at defending corners, winning the ball back by bullying other mortals off the ball, shutting down passing lanes, pressing, passing, switching play, dribbling, crossing, heading, shooting, scoring... whenever he drops back to play in the midfield he looks like the best midfielder, I just wish he could play in 5 positions at once and create goals for himself.

I agree
Because he doesn’t have any obvious weaknesses it’s harder to nightlight the huge positives

Kane is 10/10 for finishing.

This. It doesn't look fancy, but his finishing is so clinical when he's on form. A bit unfair on Sissoko, but compare his one on one chance with Kane's, and the manner in which they finished. It's not a coincidence Kane scored and Sissoko didn't. The latter simply doesn't have the conviction and calmness in front of goal that Kane has (and yes, I realise Kane has missed these chances too).

And not only that, he's also a 10/10 for positioning, IMO. He is very good at anticipating where the ball will end up and how to move to create that little bit of space which in turn results in a scoring position.

I also think he's a damn good passer of the ball. His vision is outstanding; how many times have we seen him go deep to fetch the ball and unleash a brilliant pass forward? Highly underrated part of his game, IMO. While not a particularly fast player, he's also much faster than given credit for too.

I think he doesn't get enough credit for how good he is, because he doesn't drift past players like Messi or score spectacular goals like Ronaldo/Neyma - and because he's seemingly just an ordinary, hard working guy whose image is, well, quite boring and unspectacular. He's not the right type for the media age we live in, IMO, where quality in itself simply isn’t enough if you don't also have the slick, arrogant personality, fancy tattoos or lavish lifestyle that tabloids and social media live for.

2 outstanding technical qualities I think Kane has (I'm sure there are more than 2 if I think about it): how quickly he regains balance and sets himself to shoot; his ability to find the corners of the goal with his shooting.

He has a lot of outstanding qualities, it's just not the showboat kind.

- To your point (and I've mentioned it before) balance, lack of backlift and early hit on target is as good as anyone ever has been (he so rarely skies a shot)
- Right place, right time (again, often not even seen on tv), his movement and instincts/positioning are as good as any striker in world.
- What has improved in the last 18 months is his ability to outright bully defenders, shrug them off, roll them.

The stuff people think are mediocre/not extraordinary are his pace, workrate, two footed, ability to beat man -> all good, maybe even top PL level, just not the absolute best at any of them, thing is, very few players have all those things in one package.

Messi is probably the only on, and with a few goals tomorrow, kane will have outscored him...

He's already got over 20 goals for us this season!

Does that put him ahead of Keano now and into the top 10?

Not quite. He's now ahead of Keane in the league and another 3 goals will see him overtake Keane overall and place him in the top 10. Another 4 goals puts him ahead of Teddy.
By the end of the season, all being well, he'll be edging close to Defoe.
Quite a remarkable achievement when you compare the appearance numbers.

So do the 0 and blanks in subs boxes mean they never scored as a sub or never appeared as a sub?

It was amazing that in the Burnley match, Kane was 1 yellow card from being suspended for the next game. And he didn't seem to be bothered by that as he went in that sliding tackle to win the ball and then scored his 3rd goal. Just imagine if he had mistimed his tackle, he would have received the yellow card and get suspended against Southampton. He really should avoid going into those sliding tackles which risks him getting injured or being yellow carded.

I wonder if we'll see a 'deliberate' yellow against West Ham to miss the FA Cup game.

Having said that Kane missed a far easier one against Stoke than Sissoko did, of course out of 10 times Kane would probably score 8/9 and Sissoko would likely get 4/5.

No player should avoid doing their job even if it means getting a suspension

I hope he scores early on in the game tomorrow. There’s a lot of expectation and media attention on him now to break the record. There won’t be a single Spurs fan not willing him on to do it, obviously. But we need to get the three points, regardless of who scores. An early goal for Harry takes that bit of pressure off, gives the crowd and the team a lift, and sets us up nicely for the rest of the game. Then he can concentrate on the hat trick!
