Yeah, the whole thing is weird. N'golo Kante is a great player, but why is he 8th here? Why is he above Kane? What criterion do these guys go after?

Also Mbappe is an amazing talent, but is he really among the ten best players in the world already? There will always be disputes about these kind of lists, but I think to a certain degree they're very influenced by media hype. Then again this award is decided by a french football magazine...

I disagree, I think he's great, quick, strong, effective.

Average players don't stay in the Madrid team for a decade.

I think he is clumsy in defence and a better playing going forward. He isnt average just not top class IMO

We had at least two centre backs that were better last year IMO

Have to say I'm surprised at your take on Ramos. I watch RM quite a lot nowadays and would say that regardless of what a prize brick he is he is one of their most influential players if not the most.

He shows tremendous fight and leadership and as @galeforce suggests you don't win multiple CL and League titles over ten consecutive seasons with one of Europe's top two or three clubs unless you are someone very special.

Have to say I'm surprised at your take on Ramos. I watch RM quite a lot nowadays and would say that regardless of what a prize brick he is can be he is one of their most influential players if not the most.

I don’t think he is a bad player just not the very best centre back

Is Ramos one of the world's biggest bell-ends? Yes.
Is Ramos one of the world's best defenders? No.
Is Ramos a player you would absolutely want in your team for a crunch match? Yes.
Is Ramos getting sent off and crying like a little girl after Spurs knock Real Madrid out of this year's Champions League something I'd like to see? Hell yes.

I dont want this to drag on but for me he isn't better than Toby or Verts for example (and Luiz last season was brilliant too)

Godin at Atletico is better too and for what I saw last year Umtiti at Barca was better and so was Varane

He's maybe a little bit behind Toby as a pure defender, but Ramos contributes massively in attack to, and scores quite a lot of goals season after season, in a team that wins things. In sum that puts him high up the list, and ahead of perhaps better defenders.

He is a name player because of who he plays for
