Harry Kane MBE

Myth: Kane is papering over the cracks

Truth: Take away Kane's goals and we'd be 1 point worse off. His goals have been the difference in 3 games, the 1-1 draw at Arsenal, the 3-0 win at Norwich and the 2-2 draw at Swansea. Unfortunately the latter one was 2 points dropped.
A withering way to look at it, but I do see where you're coming from.

I saw that a couple of games ago but wasn't sure if it was true as it didn't have the results.

I don't think anyone is saying he is papering over the cracks this season though tbf which kind of shows how far the team has come in such little time

Which is why I've said we don't that reliance on one player that others have - were a genuine team

We may not be a team that relies on one player but there is no doubt we are no where near being the same team without Kane leading the line.

Irrespective as to whether or not he scores or not he does something on the pitch that no other player in our squad can do currently

Yeah be works incredibly hard and can also crest which is why he is quickly becoming the best striker in the country (excluding Aguero)

But we have a great record without him and we have to have cover for him soon just in case

Really? I could not disagree more. While there is no guarantee we will win when he starts, against premier league teams in the domestic cups we lost to Arsenal and struggled to a late draw against Leicester in both matches in which Harry did not start.

I was thinking actually of Europa mainly where we were scoring plenty like Monaco

Arsenal in the cup was all about shocking defenders for me like Fazio and vorn

We smashed Leicester in the cup too but again poor defending cost us massively

At the time Monoco were mid table in a poor league with just one decent team

No we did not "smash" Leicester, and if not for dodgy penalty we would have lost.

As for Arsenal, well they were another premier league side we could not beat without Kane :)

We did not smash Leicester....

They touched the ball in our area 4 times in the first 80 minutes. They did nothing and spent most of the game in their own half. That's smashing them to me. If we took our chances the replay wouldn't have been needed. (Stating the obvious)

Two against the bar/post in that game. That first half performance was the most convincing I have seen all season.

And therein lies the rub, because without Kane in our starting line up we do not have enough to beat premier league teams, even if it is in the cup.

It does not matter how many times they touched the ball in our area, the fact is we cere only good enough to score one goal in open play. To suggest we "smashed" them is both erroneous and arrogant. Possession means nothing if we are unable to do anything with it

Kane is only scoring penalties at the moment
And although hitting the target he isn't scoring open play goals

And we play a weakened side as did they so its not the strongest side excluding one player is it

And I class a totally dominant performance as smashing someone

Even though he has not been scoring in open play I think he has been integral to our cause by spearheading our attack in a way no other person on our books can.

In my mind, when team A "smashes" team B then team A wins the match. Having a lot of possession but being unable to break a team down does not count as being a dominant performance to me

Besides if not for a generous penalty we would have been out of the cup

He is massively integral. The guy is class

He works so hard too but that's why he fades massively after 69 minutes and we need cover and an alernative

I agree it was a generous penalty but it was a game we dominated from start to finish

I have been saying that since the summer :)

Agree with this and IF we had named a stronger side we may not have to go through a reply. Funny how naming a weakened side adds to yet more games.
