General Transfer Rumour Discussion Thread

Think we are in a tricky situation now this window.

Clubs know our squad is short in a number of areas and we need reinforcements badly, if you don't have to sell a player then you can simply play hardball knowing that levy will have to pay or struggle or get a replacement in short time. Imo WBA have us by the goolies and we will have to pay over the odds for Saido now which I am not sure we will do (hope I am wrong)

Before anyone says west brom have 5 senior strikers and need to sell..... We have seen that even low end clubs are investing heavily due to the TV deal money and they know that staying in prem will be hugely worth it.

Imo levy will have to pay up and bite his tongue on this one.... Hasn't covered himself in glory by all accounts

What accounts?

The first official confirmation we've heard of our interest being genuine was earlier today, when WBA announced that we had made bid.

And I disagree with your analysis. West Brom will want to sell rather than have a rapidly depreciating asset on their books (as Berahino will become as he continues to run down his contract). Unless the likes of City, Chelsea or Utd come in with a late bid, I'd be surprised if a compromise deal between Spurs and West Brom isn't agreed.

By some accounts! ;) Time will tell with this one, but as things stand today, I'd say we were in a slightly stronger position. Their chairman has come out in public which in itself is a sign of weakness. He's putting it out there we're interested and drumming up any other suitors. Berahino's value will go down after this window closes, unless he goes on to score 20+ goals like Kane.

I'm glad that Levy does the negotiating rather than some of the posters on here!

Your FB players have told you that or have you made it up.

You ought to read theboyhotspur blog to observe the extreme end of the spectrum. It actually helps to see such opposing viewpoints and makes pretty much everyone on this board seem quite considered in comparison.

I had never heard of it, and having just been on there I can honestly say it's full of idiots. I've known for a long time that this is the best forum and theboyhotspur proves it with it's ridiculous comments.

Just been confirmed by the telegraph journalist that we are getting 10 mil for soldado.

He also broke the story about us paying 13m up front but has just confirmed he was wrong and that we paid 20 with 6m add ons. To me 13m sounded ridiculous so glad that's cleared up.......
Ahem.... As I was saying before, there was no way we were ever going to have signed Soldado paying only half up front and the rest in pie in the sky add ons (although being right is bitter sweet in this instance)

The only positive is that it seems somehow the club managed to recoup £10 million for him, GHod knows how we did that, although I see it's £10 million including add ons, so perhaps we're only actually getting £5 million with the other half dependant on Villareal winning the league and the Champions League

couldn't do worse than sign both berahino and defoe as a back up.

Never was defoes biggest fans but i can see the sense of bringing some experience to the team

£8m + add ons, I read.

Is Berahino worth the money...
is he any better than Defoe?

I'm not so sure.....

If he signs for us you can guarantee that as soon as he's found offside a couple of times, some of our more lovely 'fans' will bitch and moan and label him Defoe MKII, like it's some badge of dishonour (it's not like Jermain scored 91 goals for us or anything).. You can guaran-damn-tee it.

Spurs are reportedly pursuing Werder Bremen defender Jannik Vestergaard.

According to Tutto Mercato Web, Tottenham have registered an interest in signing Werder Bremen centre back Jannick Vestergaard.

Spurs have already signed two centre backs this season, with Toby Alderweireld and Kevin Wimmer both arriving at White Hart Lane - but recent moves could prompt Mauricio Pochettino to snap up another.

Younes Kaboul was sold to Sunderland, whilst Vlad Chiriches has signed for Italian side Napoli - and withFederico Fazio closing in on a move to West Bromwich Albion according to a report from The Telegraph, another defender may be required.

TMW now report that Spurs are targeting Werder Bremen centre half Vestergaard, but face competition from Premier League rivals Southampton.

Vestergaard, 23, joined Bremen from Hoffenheim back in January, but his impressive displays for the Bundesliga outfit have now prompted interest in his signature.

Standing at 6ft 6in, the giant Vestergaard would be a like-for-like replacement for Fazio, and he would have a familiar face to play alongside, as the Dane is an international team-mate with Spurs hero Christian Eriksen.

As cover for first choice pairing Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen, Vestergaard could be an interesting signing, especially as he would bring some much-needed height and power to the Spurs backline, should Fazio complete his exit before the transfer deadline.

Clickbait...is he trying to negotiate a new contract with Werder?

How many 34 year old plus players has Levy signed for anything more than £1m?
