Really? Is that it mate?
For Bale to go over less frequently he'd have to slow down and the opposition would have to stop basically making it clear throughout the season that they will chop him down/try to if he gets within X distance of them. If you hate the fact he's being compared to Suarez, then consider that half of that is because of the inability of the average supporter to see the difference between a player flying at full pelt versus someone who stops and then inexplicably throws themselves to the floor whilst whining. Bale rarely opens his mouth, he rarely screams for a pen (unless it was one!) and he does not try to get players booked or sent off. I think our supporters need to educate themselves on our respective player's natures. Someone genuinely thought he was trying to get Guzan sent off last weekend, which is absolutely ludicrous because frankly, if he'd rolled around when hitting the floor and given the ref an anguished, beseeching look, it might've happened But he didn't. Because he's not that sort of player.

Sorry Steff but you do come across as somewhat of an apologist for all Spurs players. You refused to believe that Modric was the one driving his move to Madrid, now you're saying Bale only goes over because he runs so fast. How comes Lennon and Walker never seem to get caught up in diving controversies then? And I'm sorry, but just because you don't appeal for penalties doesn't make it any better, don't dive in the first place.

For the record, he didn't against Scotland, the defender even stuck up for Bale, but he is definitely one of the worst culprits in the league alongside Ashley Young, Welbeck, Gerrard etc. I won't put him in the same category as Suarez because no player is except for Pepe or Busquets.

Contact will need to be that much more obvious to the officials now he has come out and explained he goes over to avoid injury.
I just hope he doesn't rip off a nut or get booted on the face by diving forward like that.

Bale has dived, but he does not dive.
I hate cheating but I can understand when players like Ronaldo and Bale try to get the odds back in their favour against the likes of proper scumbags like Adam who deliberately try to put other players out of the game .
Typically the Bale bashers have nothing to say about proper evil merchants like Adam.
Balance and context is essential in any discussion.

In the cases of Modric and Bale I agree, I do come across as one. I'll take that. In the case of Modric, I believe with some supportive evidence both known and not, that his initial push to Chelsea had little to do with the player. As for the Bale comments, no, you can add to my list of "excuses" that he patently does not want to get done seeing as he's a constant target, thus I believe he sometimes goes to ground to avoid injury/the chance of getting injured. But regardless, I'll take that criticism because without context and without looking into my opinion deeper, sure, I suppose you could conclude that. I am satisfied with my view of our players mate, further I know when I see poor behavior from one of ours and am happy my gauge of that is accurate. I suppose it's a matter of opinion that!

Walker? Incomparable to Bale IMHO? Lennon? Different body mechanics/height/style of run and power...that's my take.

Have to agree with you Steff. I would rather see a fit and healthy Bale taking whatever precautionary action HE (not some smug buggers sitting in the stands) thinks is necessary for his self preservation. As long as he doesnt try and trick the officials by appealling for pens and free kicks when he wasnt fouled, then that is ok by me.

Dwell of this so called Spurs fans: would you rather see a world class player week in and week out (warts and all) or a hobbling wreck and a pale impersonation of himself. Or worse still, forced out of the club by supporters who dont appreciate him.

Keep taking whatever evasive action YOU deem necessary Gareth - and dont listen to those who would do you down and call for you to "Man UP". Ridiculous.

That is pathetic. So those of us who do not like to see our players avoiding contact are not genuine fans?

So, according to this line of thinking, should our CB's and keepers jump out the way or are they not classy enough for that? Will you condemn Loris next time he dives at a players feet?

How do international class players who are expected to put their bodies on the line relate to others who have special dispensation to avoid contact?

Where will this lead the game? Before you know it all attackers will have an anti-tackle clause in their contract.

I simply can't believe the amount of pros who believe Chelsea are a club with a great history. Shows just how little they know. Heard that idiot Cundy talking about whether BAE was good enough for Chelsea. Do one, flukes their way to the CL and they are world beaters. Had it not been for Drogba, we would be considered a better side after last year and we probably would have signed players they got in the end.

Hazard even admitted he was set on joining Spurs until Chelsea knocked us out of the CL. Probably would have got Oscar too, two players who are going to be their best players for at least a decade.

It seems that those of us who want Bale to stop diving want him to get a serious injury. If an Arsenal player came out and said he dived to avoid contact, there is now way any Spurs fans would buy it. And nobody is defending ****s like Adam, but that doesn't give Bale the excuse to dive.
