Gareth Bale

Re: Gareth Bale

I'm with KD on this. This has been aired in the media before. Whether Bale does it deliberately or not in this instance, players definitely do clip themselves and go down and it has been on a documentary or something. I can't remember where. I thought Patrick Viera was talking about it but maybe not.

The point with Bale here from the above clip (I didn't see the game live so maybe this is unfair) is that he must know that it is one of his feet clipping the other leg, whether deliberately or not, and yet his arms still go up as he rolls in appeal. It is the claiming which to me is the issue (be it for a corner, throw in, free kick or penalty) when you know it isn't which bugs me. Penalties arre just higher value cheating but it is all aprt of the same attitude.

In his defence, his foot may have brushed the defender when he cut across which may have pushed one leg onto the other but I'm not convinced from this clip.

Isn't that the whole point then?

And yes players do clip there own heels deliberately sometimes, how anyone can say that's the case here though?

The Bale witch hunt is getting boring and embarrassing now, it seems to stem from the same people calling him a big time Charlie as well.

Re: Gareth Bale

love gareth bale, best all round player we've had at the club for over a decade

This.
I'm not into diving and I hope he cuts any of that stuff from his game (not that I believe he is a serial diver). He has also been targetted for brutal treatment from the likes of Stoke, Everton as well as Adam. If this small rep ford iving makes hackers think twice then i'm ok with that - to an extent.

But just remember how you'll feel if/when he signs for a bigger club. The boy is immense and we should be happy he stayed with us after our collapse last year-he could easily play in one of the big CL regulars.

Re: Gareth Bale

Are you kidding me? i mean are you being serious?

Do you know footballer are taught to clip their own own leg and go down. He didn't clip his own leg by accident ffs, that's a skill(cheat) some of them have mastered in order for it to look like there has been contact. This is a blatant dive, if anything it's even worse than the Villa one because there can be no argument he was trying to avoid contact with a player. Utterly disgusting.

Are you kidding me? Watch the Scottish guys legs. He clipped him.

Glad you know what i'm refering too.

Which hunt? he's being protected on here and in the media generally. He dived last season but it was swept under the rug both on here and in the media (generally) so let's not twist things.

That being said did you not read the posts above yours? people claimed they didn't know that happened:ross:

Are you sure about that mate? Talksport and many other outlets are given Bale hell for the diving.
Also, can you point out his diving last year (apart from Arsenal away, and actually he was clipped a bit by the defender, Gibbs, and it was clearly a dive for me, though perhaps a bit soft. Though Gunners should blame Gibbs for getting such a tackle in like that..but i digress a little..)

Can't remember although i mentioned all the incidents when we had this discussion last year. I don't think many (bar the gooner one) were decisions where we actually gained something big from it (A pen, a goal etc etc).

Oh and yes i'm sure being that the media outlets are only talking about him diving this season after the villa game, when ever single neutral football fan knows full well he's been doing it for a while.

Tbh, I think what diving he does do needs to stop but it's being greatly exaggerated imo. Bale has often been the most hacked player in the PL; getting no protection either from his team-mates or the officials (remember Charlie Adam and Phil Neville giving him some serious reducers that could have hampered his career).

If I had a choice of Bale doing a bit of 'evasive action' at times of him being crocked by a poor man's Keane (whilst pussies in our team just watch on) and being out for a while, I know what i'd choose...

Re: Gareth Bale

Ok that's fair enough. if the player says there was contact then it was a penalty. Personally i didn't see any contact and was going on the notion that "he tripped over his foot". If there was no contact from the player then it was a clear dive being that the 'trip over foot' is a form of cheating that is being taught and coached into players (that's a fact).

If i'm being honest i don't think the contact from the player made him go down BUT he acted on it and did the continental trip over on foot to highlight the contact. It's a pen though for sure being that the player admitted contact.

Re: Gareth Bale

It doesn't take a lot of contact to cause someone to trip over their own feet, especially when they are in full flight. In rugby it's called the "tap tackle". From behind all you need is a slight touch and you cause them to trip over their own feet.

In football this usually happens when a defender crosses behind the attacker without challenging and the attacker suddenly falls over. It just looks like a blatant dive but quite often it isn't.

Bale may not have dived in this case but it shouldn't excuse what he did against Villa. In my eyes he's still generally prone to diving

Re: Gareth Bale

If you see it from a different angle its pretty clear there was contact.

But of course the media will stick to the angle which looks pretty incriminating. Just like chelsea's 'goal' in the FA Cup SF where they were intent on showing the only angle which made it look as if the ball had crossed the line, whilst ignoring all over angles.
