Europa

5-2 Sociedad. Will be them or Alkmaar then. Thought Midtjylland were the better team in the second half. Sociedad should have had a red when Dani Silva got kicked in the leg studs showing, but it wasn't even checked. Silva then goes on to flight kick a guy in the chest only seconds after coming onto the pitch and getting a red himself. Stupid. Oh well. San Sebastian is a lovely city. Wish I could afford it. :)

No they're not mutually exclusive (in the prem club trained doesn't exist just in europe).

Numerous people have tried to explain it to you (not just in this thread). I've even given you the example of atletic bilbao who only have basque players in their squad but played in europa league this season. Yet you're still not listening.

So i'm out. Believe the rules are how you think they are then be suprised when you see european squads with more than 4 club trained or 8 hg players. Pretty sure you'll see a couple tonight.

You're still missing my point. UEFA don't define it that way. Bilbao would just list 4 club and 4 association to prove they can have 25 named in the A-list. They don't list any of the others. They don't need to list them. That is the point I've been making all along. The others sit in an uncategorised List A category with the rest of the players.

This is UEFA's own clause - "no club may have more than four "association-trained players" listed in these eight places on List A"

I will leave it there.

I don't know if I'm missing the point of the convo, but UEFA want at least 8 players to have been trained in the same national association as the club and then of that 8 they want a minimum of 4 to have actually been trained by the club itself. It's not really anymore complicated than that.

UEFA are trying to encourage local development and discourage the buying of young players across borders. The idea is to reinforce the weaker leagues who for years have been raided for any half decent looking talent. So they want clubs to develop their own payers first and then after that players from their own league/nation next before they cross borders and buy Brazilian/Argentine/Afghani youth.
