Europa

Return fixtures tomorrow. Alkmaar leading 4-1 with Galatasaray away. Real Sociedad leading Midtjylland 2-1 from the away fixture. Apart from Midtjylland, Sociedad looks the easiest on paper. Alkmaar doing well in Netherlands (5th) and we know how playing away to Galatasaray is like. Not sure what to hope for. But a fully fit team should be able to beat any of them over two legs.

Don't think this point matters so much actually. You can only have 4 association trained and we have 6.

So 2 of them need to be named in the A-list anyway. They are treated no different from Romero and Son.

You can have 25 association trained if 4 are club trained. Players that are u21 and been at the club for 3 years are on the b list and not a part of the 25 squad.

Sociedad....don't let in many but then again don't score many.

We've lost to pretty much every decent team we've played this season that weren't going through their own crisis.

Villa 4-0 is the only win that springs to mind. There might be others but can't recall.

If we have 6 association trained but only 2 club trained we can have only 23 on the A-list. However we can only have 15 overseas players because 2 of the association trained are named in the same way as the overseas contingent. In our case, because we name U21s such as Gray and Bergval we have even less slots for overseas. That is because they haven't been registered with the club for 2 seasons.

No. You have to have a minimum of 4 club trained. So if you had 2 club trained you can have a total of 23. All of whom can be association trained (club trained means you are automatically association trained).

Always worth a read - https://documents.uefa.com/r/Regula...League-2024/25/Article-31-Player-lists-Online

It's clear in this.

31.04
No club may have more than 25 players on List A during the season. As a minimum, eight places are reserved exclusively for "locally trained players" and no club may have more than four "association-trained players" listed in these eight places on List A. List A must specify the players who qualify as being "locally trained", as well as whether they are "club-trained" or "association-trained"

31.05
A "locally trained player" is either a "club-trained player" or an "association-trained player".

So Austin and Whiteman are the locally trained, club trained.

However, we have Solanke, Davies, Maddison, Johnson and Spence that are locally trained, association trained. We can only name 4 of them due to 31.04. The other one is in list A as well but not in the locally trained bucket.

Then we have Gray, Bergval, Tel and Odobert as U21s in List A but not qualifying as List B because they haven't been registered with Spurs for 2 years.

That leaves 12 spaces for the overseas contingent - Venom, Porro, VDV, Danso, Romero, Udogie, Biss, Bents, Son, Richi, Sarr, Kulu

Here's the confirmed squad - https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/clubs/1652--tottenham/squad/

So the way I read that is our club trained would be another clubs association trained, but not ours. Both categories are all locally trained.

Yes the wording is a bit brick. But read it properly.
Minimum of 8 trained association players.
Of those 8 (which is the minimum remember, you can have more). 4 have to be club trained (which is also the minimum).

So you can have 25 club trained Players in your squad.
You can have 25 association trained players in your squad. As long as at least 4 of them are club trained.

1 - has to be club trained
2 - has to be club trained
3 - has to be club trained
4 - has to be club trained
5 - has to be club trained or association trained
6 - has to be club trained or association trained
7 - has to be club trained or association trained
8 - has to be club trained or association trained
9 to 25 - can be any player (including club trained or association trained if places 1 to 8 are already filled)

Here's the bit I see (lol, when I read it properly)

You write "Minimum of 8 trained ASSOCIATION players."
I see in UEFA's definition "As a minimum, eight places are reserved exclusively for LOCALLY trained players."

Association and Club are mutually exclusive in the UEFA definitions. Local is only defined simply as the sum of the 2.

No they're not mutually exclusive (in the prem club trained doesn't exist just in europe).

Numerous people have tried to explain it to you (not just in this thread). I've even given you the example of atletic bilbao who only have basque players in their squad but played in europa league this season. Yet you're still not listening.

So i'm out. Believe the rules are how you think they are then be suprised when you see european squads with more than 4 club trained or 8 hg players. Pretty sure you'll see a couple tonight.
