superhudd (not gonna quote the whole thing), I think city are getting away with it, ooh a fine, to a club that print their own money

I'm thoroughly depressed, I'm gonna have a partridge moment, shoes are off and I've just taken 4 Turkish delights from the fridge, when the diabetes shows up I'm suing chirpy

disappointed we didn't acquire more fire power. And sad to see Sandro go. Its quite obvious we are not in a position to be splashing the cash, we have to hope that our signings turn into awesome bargains. Pochettino has got to earn his corn now to improve the players we have!

superhudd (sorry, your second point)

maybe one of them was due a raise and the other 4 have highest earner match clauses

or they may be doing a restructure with increasing payments to offset some of the FFP hit for further down the line when it has possibly been challenged

The first year was always going to be that way though... saying that I wasn't even expecting the last punishment.. I honestly thought they would be shown the errors of there ways only and told if done again punishment.

I fully expect it to be worse next time. Should it happen.

I do believe that these contracts will be looked at.. and compared to there previous ones. I have trust in David Gill to not let there noisy neighbours cheat. \o/

Oh spurs fans... You really are borderline stupid... We haven't replaced hitlyby, or sigg, or blah blah blah are you joking. Our squad is perfectly balanced. Perfectly balanced which it hasn't been for a long long long long time. It's WAY more balanced than man u's and arsenals... Man U have a weak defence and a weak central midfield. Arsenal have weak cover in cb and cm and an awful strike force.

What we lack are real quality players all the other 5 have. World beating players. Lamela COULD be it. Eriksen COULD be it. Ade COULD turn it on. Soldado COULD find form... But it's risky.

But we have two top half prem quality teams. That's good depth

First 11

----------------Lloris
Walker--Fazio--Vertonghen--Rose
-------Stambouli--Dembele
Lamela-----Eriksen-------Chadli
-------------Adebayor

Second 11

--------------------Vorm
Naughton-Kaboul--Dier--Davies
------------Capoue--Bentaleb
Townsend----Paulinho-----Lennon
-----------------Soldado

Plus Harry Kane and chiriches.

That second eleven is poor. More likely to be relegation candidates than top half. Kaboul seems past it, Capoue and bentelab seem too weak defensively. Townsend and Lennon don't make effective contributions to games. Soldado only scores penalties and paulinho? I don't even have to go there.

Doesn't exactly give everyone one the bona that they want but's not the worst team I've seen and on paper at least it looks to be the most balanced and creative team we've had in two years.

As for strikers we have: Adeboyaor, Soldado and Kane. Hardly something to cry about. As frustrating as things are missing out on MS, JRod and MM at least we found other targets that fill the void, something I just think we didn't do in summer 2012, not signing Moutinho was was one thing but not finding someone was ala Cabaye was totally another and cost us long term.

in the past two years we have gone full circle and this window was about avoiding that creating a team that is balanced not going all out as we have the two summer windows creating something grand, exciting which in the end is unbalanced and in the utterly pointless.

No this window wasn't the best but it's a start and a good one. We've held onto key players ala Llros, Verts and Eriksen with other players still to prove their worth in Lamela, Paulinho, Chadli and Capou with some youngster waiting in the wings in Bentelab, Kane, Dier, and Davies. After that you then have our academy.

This is a more of an organic approach to the scatter gun of 2012 and 2013.

People say giving the manager time is very important which of course it is, but it's also important to give players time as well.

We have a long road ahead now but one not too unfamiliar in feeling to one we went down in 2004/05, added to that a manager who has a philosophy and plan which we haven't seen at this club in a very long time and worth giving a go. Overall it's a road one I'm happy to see this club to go down.

Look at our signings and remember, you build a team from the back, not the front.

I think that's spot on but would challenge the Capoue option and suggest a more dynamic option be better suited e.g Bentaleb or the good version of Paulinho if that version was recoverable.

I don't see Capoue being stronger than Benteleb by much tbh.

Either way i'd start Dembele and probably play him with this Stambouli gu if he's any good.

This. Dembele might not be hard in the tackle but he is much better at just picking off passes, and stealing the ball from opposing players. Plus he is very good at ball retention and I believe is more tactically astute than Capoue.

Im not going to Anoint Benji into the side yet though. So Dembele with Capoue for me until he proves himself, and then maybe he takes Capoue's place.

Just because they are new signings does not mean they are the new toy and should go straight into the side and are automatically better.

I think Dembele is great defensively. But his suffocating of the ball once he has possession is just so contrary to everything Poch is trying to achieve. I'd almost put Mason ahead of him in the pecking order at the moment.

Bentaleb is in my first 11…alongside Stambouli if he's decent (I haven't seen him so have no clue)...

I'm happy to see which of the four establish themselves as first choice pairing. They all have different strengths and weaknesses. Based on preseason and Poch's Southampton, I assume that Capoue and Stambouli will be given the first chance to show what they can do.

I think it will be Stambouli and Bentaleb as Poch wants more mobility in that specific area and Capoue isn't that!

Capoue was getting a lot of praise after the first two league games - one game later and it seems he's being written off.
