Danny Rose

I would suggest the whole escapade was designed with the intent he wouldnt be here now having to live with it.

Clearly thought he could get himself a move. Ive no doubt Mourinho was whispering sweet nothings in his ear - but everyone knows an approach would have been knocked back.

So, surprise surprise, player comes out and makes his position essentially untenable. Slates the fans, the squad, the management, the club ambition...

Except of course, its backfired.

He must be so embarrassed but the players must actually feel really awkward around him. They will have known how well Poch and Rose got on. They will have seen all that Poch did to improve him.

I will never understand it. There must be some kind of mental health, injury/depression issue at play, because it makes so little sense. Obviously we weren't going to sell Rose, and he obviously wasn't going to get a move having been injured for 9 months. Just absolutely baffling.

For Poch to reintegrate him must make him hugely respected among the players. Of course the risk is, if you let Rose get away with it, what is to stop others trying the exact same thing? But I think all of our players are smart enough to know what Poch is doing for them, and it makes Poch truly look like the master of their universe. He's doing the best for the club, and I'm sure his relationship with Rose will never be the same again.

Given how Luke Shaw talks about Poch in the same book, I think money + Shaw for Rose would be best for all involved. Hopefully Shaw can get himself fit, and we can get some cash for Rose - who doesn't strike me as being the kind of gangling, lumbering physical type sloth that Mourinho usually goes for, so he probably won't do that well there anyway.

Could just be that deep down he is a bit of a clam. Doesnt have to be any more complex than that.

As it is, as you say, it could well do Poch the world of good. They will feel bad for him for the way he was treated, and respect him even more for the way he has acted.

Was just about to post the same thing. Except my suggestion was that he might just be an ungrateful clam.

I agree that it is not that complicated. He wanted to move for more money and started slinging mud which landed on his own face.

Am I right in saying he was due a contract negotiation soon anyway? I thought I read that somewhere.

He only signed the new deal a year ago

Iirc Shaw is a free agent by the summer 2018

I think after the damage done by the move to Utd it could take some time to get him back to his best.

Thats if he has recovered from his injuries to get there that is.

I like the concept of getting Shaw, but I think its a risky move.

Davies became what Shaw was supposed to be IMO - so there wouldn't be too much pressure on Shaw to perform absolutely immediately. But yes, we need to make sure he is over his injuries and psychologically ready to compete in a Poch environment. But from everything Shaw says about Poch, you have to believe he'd jump at the chance to come back.

Ive no doubt he would jump at the chance. I just doubt whether we should offer it!

His injuries have been substantial, but worse than that Mourinho has really done a number on him mentally.

Maybe we need to make sure he isn’t as over rated as he was at the time... along with all the players they sold then only one has stepped up and that’s wanyama

I agree although i think Lallana has done well. Wanyama has done well but he was just following Poch so still inside the system.

Does make me wonder whether some of ours wont look as good if they go elsewhere (although we will be royally rewarded)

Look at the lad who went to arsenal and Lovren... over rated and achieved very little

The pre-season stuff has back fired massively on Danny boy hasn’t it?

Davies has gone on to the next level whilst he sits on the bench with his snakey hair cut.

I wasn't a big fan of Davies but he has improved massively. Its good to see Rose suffering on the bench after what he said. It would take a lot to dislodge Davies now

I wasn’t either, but he seems a different player.

He always seemed to get destroyed by pace - which doesn’t seem an issue this season.
