Danny Rose

I understand that only home grown have true affinity to the club yet walker and rose have spent serious time here...particularly in terms of modern football and I just don't want to believe that neither of them give a plop about our club or the fans even if they have had derogatory comments from fans over the years.

I think rose has the right to an opinion but I do feel sick he chose to use that abomination of a rag.

I'm torn steff I really am and I totally see your point of view.

I fear years of mediocrity with our so called master plan imploding in spectacular fashion as we watch our best squad disassembled over the coming years...being torn asunder akin to Monaco at the moment.

I'm trying to keep the faith but unlike poch I'm not 'calm'

I would like us to dare to do and go for glory. I see us sitting on our hands transfer wise while our existing excellent players become restless.

Let's see how we start the campaign and end the window...high fees for a peaking left back means nothing to me. He's the best left back in the league and I certainly don't want another class player strengthening a northern title rival.

Have faith. Have belief. Poch and Levy have this. fudge Rose (preferably off on loan to Leeds so as he can be close to Mummy)..:

I really hope you are right. It feels like we're on a real tipping point at the moment, where things could fall apart, or we could cement our place in the top 4. I dont believe that our 'net spend of zero' is a sustainable long-term transfer policy but just hope it is for this window

Again, people need to trust the manager and the chairman. Do not think that discussions have not been had and a plan is not in place. Why do you think the likes of Kane, Alli and Dier have all remained quiet? Why do you think Toby is quiet even though he is yet to re-engage a new contract discussion? This is a MASSIVE season, and if we remain in the CL, next season in the new stadium sees our paradigm complete its shift. If we add silverware then we are looking at a potential dynasty.

Our opposition and the media know it. There js nothing 'sexy' about non-mega transfers. There js something scary about a manager who can do so well without mega-spends. The destabilization attempts have been furious all summer.

Rose knew the score in Jan and he also knew it this summer. He has chosen a path regardless. fudge him. And I guarantee he will have lost some friends at the club in the process...

The issue is not Danny Rose per se, it is the current free market of football. Forget for a moment the vastly inflated salaries of footballers and just imagine in any profession, would it be wrong to want to be at the top, achieve the honours and be paid the same as the other similar level members of the same profession? Isn't that called ambition? That is why I don't see what Rose has done wrong. The issue of whether I agree with footballers' wages is irrelevant because they are what they are and not likely to change soon. Btw David Pleat reminds me too much of darker times at Tottenham, we are in a much better place now, thanks to Poch, Danny Rose etc, so I have very little interest in his opinions. After all didn't he leave a smaller club to manage Spurs back in 1987?

Pleat is relevant solely because he is close to Levy. His view on Rose will be Levy's view. That's why it is interesting. Levy signed Dele Alli on Pleat's advice. Pleat still has a huge input in the club through Levy.

I agree with you on Rose. Over and out with him. But he is dead right on one thing. We do need to sign 3 or 4 players before the end of the window. Poch himself has said so. Hopefully it will be those with hunger and potential. Not just squad-filler players but real first team challengers. We have the capacity. We must act in the next three weeks or risk a slide into mediocrity.

Because footballers are generally cowards and prefer sneakier quieter ways to get the moves they want.

Dier has wanted to go to Utd all summer, there is no smoke with fire and all this transfer talk came from somewhere. It will all unravel with him too you will see. After Rose Dier will be the next to p!ss orf

Toby has probably been offered more elsewhere too. These guys have no true passion to stay at Spurs. Only someone like Harry will stay around for a few more years even if the rest of the rats desert the ship. Harry simply has that desire to make Spurs great again but even that will last for only so long.

Again you are claiming there is a deliberate destabilization from the media and richer clubs because they fear what is happening at Spurs. No they just see a bunch of talented players achieving great results whilst being paid much less than their own players are. So because they have the money they are coming in with tempting offers to pick up the players from Spurs that they want. That's all it is. They do it because they are able to do it.

And Spurs will take the money, that's the sad part. We could have not sold Walker and not sell Rose. The club could have taken the stance and said one more season, you shut up and stay. But no, after all the money on offer is just too tempting. I'm sorry but every footballer has a price on their heads and someone will come along and pay it. Thats the game, that's the business.

This is all fudging depressing isn't it.

So it seems in the papers that we may be looking to fine Rose 2 weeks wages. If true, a big if, how can we then give him a pay rise?

Can only see one outcome if we fine him. No way we would fine him and then say, well done, you deserve a raise.

If we sign a few players though, and don't fine Rose and then give him a pay rise, would you still want him at the club? I'm now torn...

Fine him two weeks of wages, i think it works out to £120k .... them tell him he has a monthly pay rise of 10k For a year.

West Ham pay their players more than Juve so its a bad comparison really
Even with the new Premier League TV deal swelling the Spammers' coffers, surely they cannot afford to increase their salary bill by £90m?!

i done the (basic) maths earlier following my post regarding this table - if our revenue increases to around the 260m mark from last season (209) because of the new tv deal that would make 55% of our turnover about 30m higher than it was last season, or about £570,000 p/w - not exactly chump change and would allow us to raise (for example) 10 players wages by 57k

obviously the above is a crude working out but you get the gist

Good point about the new Nike kit sponsorship increasing our revenue by £15m per year.

Although won't the likes of Cit£h and ManUr€ receive the same £30m boost in TV income as Spurs? Thus, they could still afford to offer Rose vastly more than anything we could.

Just going through the gossip coloum this has opened a can of worms for the gutter press.
Heroes welcome , Other players about to speak out etc.

Talk about trying to de rail us a day before season. Rose should have kept his thoughts private with the club.

Interesting chart - surprised our matchday revenues are so low, particularly as its 15/16 rather than last year when we had a reduced capacity. Hopefully the equivalent chart in 2-3 years time will have us top 10

I agree, a few new faces are necessary but the window does not close for a few weeks. Rose made it sound like it was over!

This was always going to happen with the pay, it always does if you don't bring in the trophies instead - even that just brings a bit more time.

I thought we would have one more season before it started to come out.

Levy is at a cross roads - his ideas, won't keep
Or attract top players you need to win things on a regular basis.

Players are all mercenaries at the end of the day, why would they have any affintaty to a club. When they could get paid more? In any other job you wouldn't?

Most the teams above us in that table have stadia with a capacity at lease 25% greater than WHL and some more than 100% higher. It's no surprise at all we can't compete on income, the new stadium will put us ahead of Liverpool, Chelsea and Juventus capacity-wise.

Sounds from Roses point of view they wanted a statement of intent.

The manager has even said in the past he wants the signing he wants in early.
