Daniel Levy - Chairman

It's every year Levy, after him coming out making that video about working tirelessly to do the best for the club we're now 11 days away from our 1st game still with a massively bloated squad and no new CB's
It's a fudging disgrace
Not just any CBs

we need quality, proven would be a blessing/necessity?

Many of us warned that Levy was a sham for years.

Highest ticket prices in the league. promises of "stadium will be a game changer". and look at us. Compare us to that lot down the road. DISGRACE.

massively regret renewing. at least i know i'm binning it end of this season.

I share the same disappointment echoed here about the lack of CB’s. It started out a very good window getting Vicario and Maddison done very quickly, it’s just a shame we haven’t been able to get a CB over the line. Granted there is still time but even we signed someone today, it’s very unfair and unlikely to expect them to get fully up to speed in 11 days which is going to extend the bedding in process. It’s been a problem area ever since we lost Toby and Jan.

Who do we think Ange will go with at CB against Brentford assuming we sign no one or we do sign a CB but Ange doesn’t throw them in at the deep end? Given how much he has talked up Davies, I think it will be Romero and Davies lining up next Sunday.

Yeh but Levy will be happy we've saved money on 4 weeks worth of wages and a signing on fee, etc

The repayments on loans pale in significance when compared to the increase in revenue which goes back into the club. Its hardly lopsided. Growing pains to bring the club into the modern commercial world in which grounds are not white elephants empty for 345 days a year I admit, but there is no doubt that the developments are the best use of the club commercially long term and hugely beneficial to the local area
The interest on the loans at the current rates versus the increase in turnover does look pretty good. However, looking at the increase in our (non player related) cost base in the post covid accounts and then also factoring in paying back the capital on the debt as well and suddenly it’s nothing like ‘insignificant’

Of course, thats down to the assets built in order to bring the club forward adding value but the reason we have not progressed on the pitch is down to the money being spent poorly, not the fact we have chosen to develop the commercial side, which was originally being suggested
The money has been spent poorly because the CEO put a poor, underfunded team in place to spend the money.

If I put a mate in charge of debt acquisition and then give that person a small budget for a few analysts and then provide £5billion to go and purchase debt in the market then I wouldn’t expect to acquire much in the future at of profitable debt.

We earn more, we spend more, that includes players wages and fees, thats becomes possible from an increase in commercial. Based on the original comments I am not sure what the alternatives were, stay at old WHL and pray for a rich 3rd party investor

Do you mean the "that lot down the road" that have finished above us once in the last 7 seasons or the "that lot down the road" that scraped 12th last season?

Mate come on, it's chalk and cheese attitude. they have looked at their problems, and addressed them through the summer.

They've done more in one summer than we have in 5. Yes they've been behind us for years, but they've turned it around and look to be making the right statements again this summer.

As you say, we finished above them 6 out the last 7 seasons. How comes we have an inability to fix glaring holes in our squad?

How long has it been for Arsenal now in the new stadium to get to where they are?

It's been a bad time but surely that's comparable to them? Before that indent know about you but I thoroughly enjoyed my time, the Poch and Redknapp years were outstanding, the Bale years etc. People will probably snear at that but I'm just saying that it hasn't always been crap. The last couple of years have been dire, absolutely but then Arsenal took maybe 5 years too long to sack Wenger and absolutely bodged the Emery appointment so it's not been all "to plan"

They've had one season where every bit of luck went their way, they had no injuries or CL and everyone else was brick.

Let's revisit this if they can put a few seasons of decent performances together.
