Contingency planning : If Ange is sacked, who should replace him?

Come on, I challenge you and @thfcsteff

How about we give this squad to your boy Poch (not saying he will come or we will go for him), setup as 4-2-3-1

---- Vic ---------

Spence/Porro - Romero/Dragusin - VDV/Davies - Udogie

Bentancur/Biss - Sarr

Deki/Johnson - Maddison/Bergvall - Son/Wilson

Solanke/Richi

Sell Richi & Biss, release Werner, take that money + typical 100M we spend each window now, buy a DM, LB, backup GK, 2nd Striker, play a possession based game with slightly less suicidal tendencies. fudge sell Maddison and Romero if you think you can get better.

You tell me that team doesn't get 5th? this squad is a lot better than Ange is getting out of it, not saying it's a top 3 side but it will be in the mix for 4th-6th
It may well scrape 5th (though that would be slightly over achieving) without having two games a week and injuries. It doesn’t come close with two games a week and injuries:

So to try to answer

- I never expect anyone to be a Levy loyalist, nor should anyone be, but for decent conversation it has to be based on some reality. Your first two answers don't get to why you suddenly think we are going to be cheap with paying managers (when we never have been) outside of some "Levy sucks, therefore"

- The 4-2-3-1 scenario wasn't aimed at Ange, he will never do it, that much is clear at this point. My point was change could win us 8 games in the next month, I don't think he will and I don't think we will win anything close to that

- The salary stats are interesting, not sure what point in proves, Liverpool salaries are closer to us than Arsenal by a long away, we spend more than anyone outside the top 6 and once you get outside top 9, it isn't even competitive. United outspend Pool, Arsenal, us, Villa, Saudi Sportswashing Machine by huge margins. I'd argue that those stats say how you manage the club is more important than what you spend.
We have ended up with both Nuno and Postecoglou and you don’t think we cheap out on manager salaries? We only met Conte’s demands when things had gone very ‘Levy out’ during Nuno’s tenure.

This club only seems to have money when in panic mode.

Top 5 faves for the job, should it become vacant...

Potter 4/1
Howe 9/1
Iraola 10/1
McKenna 10/1
Southgate 14/1

Howe should be 9,000/1. He’d be mad to leave Ne wcastle for us.

Potter’s allegedly turned us down before, hasn’t he? Maybe he’s feeling more desperate now.

Southgate in and I’m out for a while. No thanks.

McKenna is as big a gamble as Ange.

Out of those above, Iraola’s probably the pick, but not sure I’m particularly sold on any of them.

It’s been f ucked up to such an extent now that I’m at a loss, tbh.

I think Nagellsmann would love to get back into club football now
He turned us down to go to Bayern

Nagelsmann would be a dream, but can't see that happening. He would probably crash and burn anyway, like most others. We're cursed, and thats it. There's just something intangible over us that we can't seem to get rid of. This sexy-mentality being a big part of it (I'm guilty of it as well, obviously). I hoped Poch had turned that tide for us, but we fudged up the CL final and just cemented the point, unfortunately. We are truly cursed, but one fine day it has to turn. Someone will lift that hoodoo and we're gonna be back where we belong. One day! One day soon.

If Southgate came on my face I would find it less offensive then if he managed us.

It’s pretty tangible I’d say….

Really? Everyone seems to blame everything all at once. It's the manager! It's the chairman! It's ENIC! It's not buying experienced players! It's buying only experienced players! It's no marquee signings! It's not playing enough young players! It's playing too many young players! It's the mentality! It's the history of the Tottenham! It's the fans! It's the awful new stadium! It's the fitness coaches! It's Ryan Mason! It's the bloody tea lady! So everything is the problem?

Having owners who’s overarching aim is to have a valuable business asset

I can see the argument for that, for sure, but we'd still have to operate under FFP - how much do you reckon we're underspending, and if so, what do we really know about that being true? Not trying to be cute her, I genuinely wonder myself - I hear this thrown around a lot, but do we have any evidence to support it? Are we really just racking up money that goes into the ENIC chest, and spend a percentage of money on the actual football club, or can we find the expenditure matching our actual income?

It's intangible?

No it's not. There is one single reason why we fail. We're not cursed. Well maybe we are having levy in charge. But it's obvious who is the problem at our club.

OBVIOUS.

Enic haven’t taken any money out, that’s clear from the accounts that are published
In total they have out in roughly £150m including money buy the club (apologies that’s all from memory and very rough)
The club is now worth around £2.5 to £3B to them
So a huge return if they sell
They do appear to put all the income back into the club
I’ve never seen anything that contradicts that in the data and reports that I’ve seen
One issue that’s forgotten regularly is we owe a lot in transfers and that’s not money pegged to an interest rate … that’s cash that has to be paid
And wages wise the last data I saw was from Swiss ramble ( an arsenal supporting finance guy but a genuine source of info) and we were paying out £251m in wages in 22/23 which was 20% more than the previous season

Howe, mad to leave Saudi Sportswashing Machine as you say
Potter - we arte a worse proposition than when we approached previously imo
Southgate - both of us aren't that stupid :)
Mckenna - also represented by CAA Base like Ange, think it's a decent chance given that
Iraola - he'd probably wait for another year or two and go for either the Chelsea or Man Utd jobs

My guess is McKenna

Firstly, you can see by the manager odds that the bookies have no clue. The best way to find Spurs new manager is to lookup the odds for Pep's eventual replacement. It's guys like Alonso, Kompany on that list but the interesting favourite is Herrero Michel. De Zerbi is on it as well. A manager very similar to Iraola.

As for Iraola, the problem becomes whether he passes up our opportunity and waits for the next bus to come along. I have a feeling managers do that when we come knocking.
