Circus ManUnitus - Nobody's At The Wheel

Two Manchester United players - both members of Ralf Rangnick's slumping senior squad - had to be pulled apart after a full-on fight towards the end of Friday's training session, which was brought to a premature end

Not much of a surprise, but Rangnick wants no further part of it. What a poor appointment this turned out to be for United.

Ralf Rangnick will not take up consultancy role

Former interim manager Ralf Rangnick will not take up his two-year consultancy role at Manchester United.

A United statement read: "By mutual agreement, Ralf will now focus solely on his new role as manager of the Austria national team and will not therefore be taking up a consultancy role at Old Trafford."

Rangnick was appointed by United until the end of the season, taking over after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's sacking.

United won only 38% of their games under Rangnick, the worst win percentage of any United manager in the Premier League era and the club's worst for 50 years.

Woah I thought ten Hag wanted compatriot Rangnick as his boss? Or did Ten Hag push him out?

An utterly mystifying appointment from the start, long may those kind of decisions be made by Utd's board.

Effectively the guy brought in to solve the direction of the club has been fired, but in a PR friendly kind of way - "Focusing on the sleeping giants Austria rather than continuing to fudge up a pre fudged situation at Utd".

If Ten Haag goes full on De Boer @ Crystal Palace at least Solskjaer will presumably be free to retake the wheel as he knows all about how the Manchester United DNA is oh so special.

All the media pundits out there were saying this would happen for the last few weeks, that he wouldn't really stay on as a consultant after the horror show of the last 6 months or so. They seem to have tried to pick a busy news day to sneak the story out there lol
