Circus ManUnitus - Nobody's At The Wheel

They were appalling tonight. My sincere condolences to Ronaldo (awful thing for any parent to go through), but without him ManU really are fudging awful. Lets face it, he was the difference against us and Norwich. If I were Ten haag, I would avoid them like the plague.

Rotten aren't they?!

Ten Haag is an interesting one. So highly rated that no-one of note has gone for him - he might not be all he's cracked up to be.

For him though it's win win - do well and he's a genius. Fail and his reputation stays intact.

I agree, overrated imo and Ajax have had some exceptional players during his tenure.

Unfortunately still a lot better than their past two managers though.

I see that Harry Maguire has received a bomb threat that is being taken seriously.
That really is way beyond the pale.
Wonder if he'll take time out or if his performance will be impacted.

I see some of the media are saying it could take him 3 years to rebuild, must be tough job with those limited resources, here at Spurs our managers get written off by media in 2/3 months.

“The media” (That monolithic entity specifically designed to upset YOU!) didn’t miss by all that much with Nuno did they? Did he make it to 6 months?

I fudging love Utd’s demise though, there was real hope after getting in CR7, Sancho and Varane in the summer and then BAM reality smacks them in the face once again.

The present drift upset me, having worked in the industry since the 60's I'm disgusted as what passes for journalism now. Reporting now is simply about personalities and opinion, facts are ignored.

It wasn’t perfect in the 60s though was it?

It’s probably more that life itself (or what is put out on social media) is what journalism used to be. Technology should have helped accuracy but it has indeed worsened it.

If the supposed expectations of an upcoming Utd’s manager “disgusts” you, it’s probably best to mix it up on the incoming media so that it doesn’t infiltrate your scope of being otherwise it just seems like you wanted to be disgusted. There’s worse posted on here daily than leniency towards a new manager for a top team.

The direction has definitely changed, largely gonads narratives to get the reads (a can't beat them join them approach in relation to SM), but you just have to watch the Gazza documentary in the last two weeks to see the media has always had an ugly face/approach. (Granted, not all of it)

Major change in media was driven by the Australians, Murdoch and Packer who saw the appeal of sensationalism to the masses, something many avoided until they saw the sales figures and jumped in to the sty. Always been a market for scandals but usually had to have facts established and opinions where for editorials and features.
