Champions League 2017/18 - Round of 16: Juventus

I
Group A: Manchester United are group winners as they have the best head to head against both CSKA and Basel. Basel have a good chance of taking second place as they play a rubbish Benfica in the last round and will have to drop points for CSKA to even stand a chance.

Group B: PSG will win the group and Bayern finish second unless Bayern get a big enough win in the last round to make up for their 0-3 loss in Paris and take it on head to head.

Group C: Chelsea have to win against Atletico to secure top spot, but are guaranteed to go through. Atletico are two points behind Roma, but will take second place in the unlikely event that they beat Chelsea and Roma fail to beat Qarabag.

Group D: Barcelona will win the group and Juventus most likely finish second as they only have to beat Olympiakos in the last round. Sporting need a win against Barca and for Juventus to drop points to stand a chance.

We could have:

Group winners: Manchester United, PSG, Chelsea, Barcelona, Liverpool, Emirates Marketing Project, Besiktas, Tottenham

Runners up: Basel, Bayern, Roma, Juventus, Sevilla, Napoli, Porto, Real Madrid

Would be funny if one English side finished second as they'd then only have three teams they could face from pot 1 (PSG, Barca and Besiktas). Real will definitely get Besiktas or Liverpool if it ends like this.

Could have all 5 English teams winning their groups, which would create history on just for England, but dont recollect any other country having 5 representatives and them all topping their respective group

It is nice to be in the CL knockout stages. But we really need to get the luck of the draw. We were very unlucky to get AC Milan in CL Round of 16 in 2011. We did well to beat AC Milan but then we got Real Madrid in the Quarter Final then. Hope we can get a favourable draw this time.

great for the co=efficient obviously but it devalues a little what we did, actually who am I kidding, the hateful media wouldn't give us credit if we were the only team to get out of the group stages.

We're not going to the win the EPL - I think that ship has already sailed unIess there is a massive collapse by Emirates Marketing Project which isn't going to happen.

I think the Champs league is our main focus this season - which shows just how far we've come (and I am not saying we are going to win it) but I do thinks we are one of a handful of teams that can. Real, Barca, Bayern, Juve, PSG being the obvious names in the competition. I want to avoid the other EPL teams because I think they have us figured out, however, I do think continental teams don't know how to play us and at the moment I fancy us to give anyone a game.

I can't see Emirates Marketing Project winning the CL, they are more concerned with the domestic situation at the moment.

Next Feb is going to be interesting when the CL kicks off again. Not to mention that the likelihood is one of Chelsea, Emirates Marketing Project, Arse, Utd and 'Pool are going to get one of Juve, Real, Bayern (although we could also get Bayern and Juve).

(likely*) Group Winners
*Man Utd
PSG
*Chelsea
Barca
*Liverpool
City
Besiktas
Tottenham

(*likely) Runners up
Real
Porto/Leipzig
*Shaktar
*Sevilla
Juve
*Roma
Bayern
Basel/CSKA

Would like Porto, Bayern/PSG, Juve, Basel in the last 16. Part of me thinks we would better off getting a real contender because we seem to up our game in those fixtures and getting Porto/Basel might see us get a bit complacent. Having said all that, for selfish reasons I would like Porto as it would be a fantastic trip and a side we haven't played for a number of years.

Basel
Bayern Munich
Juventus
Shaktar Donetsk or Napoli
Porto or Leipzig
Sevilla or Spartak Moscow (unless Liverpool finish second)

Me too, but I think we are capable of being on terms with them. But yes, they're the 2nd worst draw.
Yeah we might do them, but I'd prefer to go as far as we can before we meet the big guns. I know someone will throw out the argument that we have to meet them sometime but it's a crap argument . Blagging our way to the final will do me just fine ;).

We wanna be playing them when toby and Victor are back and fit

Basel
Bayern Munich
Juventus
Shaktar Donetsk or Napoli

Obviously best to avoid Juve and Bayern, possibly Napoli too. Basel would be good - get revenge for a few years ago

Totally disagree with the general sentiment of messages since the qualifiers from A-D have been sorted. Bayern and Juve are perfect for us imo. I think we will struggle with the expectation if we get Basel/Porto/Leipzig/Spartak. Complacency can set in and I believe it would as we saw last season with the group we got. Best to be the underdog but knowing that we can definitely give the opponent a good game.

Don't see Napoli making it through but wouldn't want Shakhtar Donetsk. Porto for me for selfish reasons as the trip would be great but Bayern or Juventus would be perfect......its what we entered the competition for.

As usual, ManU will get the easiest draw, against Porto/Leipzip and we will get the hardest draw, against Bayern/Juventus.

Relax! Have you not yet noticed how we are pulling out the stops against the big boys in the CL this season? Are you already forgetting that we're currently top of the Group of Death having polished off Real Madrid and Dortmund no less?

So Chelsea are getting Besiktas, huh?
